Hi, was wondering what it would take to put a set of 2005 XB heads on a 2002 M2 motor. Would it be a direct bolt on? Thanks in advance. |

They are a RETRO-FIT ... IMHO, all you would get is better COOLING heads, SMALLER stem valves, and better combustion CHAMBER ... Of course you should use the PISTONS that go with the heads ... If you are going that far, you might a well get the XB cylinders as they COOL better ... "PLUS" a front motor mount as Phelan says !!! (Message edited by buellistic on July 16, 2010) |

Well that is the first part of the question how about the rest? While the heads are a direct bolt on, the rockers, cylinders, etc... You will need a few things, XB12 pistons. You can use XB9 BUT you are looking at a very high compression ratio. I think it was like 14:1 I am not 100% sure I had it written down on my last lap top. You will also have to get a new frot motor mount as the spacing is a bit narrower than the stock tuber heads. You can buy one through a sponsor. |

XB9 pistons gives a 12.1:1 CR. You will need a custom motor mount available from Al @ American Sport Bike. |

Alright, thanks. When I bought the 2002 motor, it had a broken exhaust bolt. And had the XB9 heads laying around (was going to use on the sporty). Called the local machine shops and they all suggested EDM'ing the bolt because the previous owner tried to ez out the bolt with no luck. One machine shop said they would have to weld to the broken bolt. Well EDM'ing costs about $150.00 in Austin. Just wanted to get some opinions on if it would be worth using the heads. Sounds like it would cost more than EDM'ing the bolt. Thanks for info. |
