Well, almost 2 years of literally daily use, and I think my battery is shot. Had the clicking in the steering head thing, and parked the bike for about a week and a half till I could get it to the shop. By the way, the clicking thing that some dealers say is "normal" is the steering head bearings... My guys got it done as a warranty thing. GO CC Harley (used to be Harley-Buell)!!! Anyway, Crap. Crapitty Crap crap. Won't start under it's own juice, doesn't seem to take a charge from running it, even at higher revs, had to get a friggin jump from a chevy of all things at the gas station on the way to work this morning. I need to fire it up in diag mode and see what the charging system is putting out, but since the battery light was NOT on when it's running, and it runs good once started, I'm betting on the battery. Anybody replaced one from another source? I wonder if I can get it warrantied? Any thoughts? R |

Buy the Erik Buell Racing battery and let me know what you think about it. |

I told my dealer to check my battery, and replace it under warranty if it was bad, they said ok. The battery on my bike wasn't very good from the beginning, i don't know if it sat on the dealer floor for a long time or what. |

I picked up my ’08 R in March of this year. Obviously the battery sat a bunch and probably wasn’t maintained. Could be a replacement, but I doubt it. I generally see between 13-14 Volts when riding but have seen as low as 11.5 Volts. I have had a few cold starts, below 40 F, that almost didn’t happen. Then I left the ignition on for 45 minutes one day and barely managed to start it the next day without a charge. After that it always seemed to have less CCA’s, even after 30 minutes of highway riding. So I gave it a two hour charge at 6 amps. This did help and it seems to be hanging on so far. I do wonder if I am on borrowed time at this point. BTW CBF: They are no longer Chevy’s they are now officially Chevrolet’s. And my ‘72 Chevelle, ’92 Vette, and ’08 Silverado are fine vehicles to jump start a bike with. |

Well, the charging system is putting out 14.5-14.7, going like gangbusters. Bike runs alright when started, but won't restart. Pulled the battery and took it to the dealer, and it's putting out "acceptable" voltage, but they are putting it on their charger overnight to see if it picks up any. Either way, I'm getting a new battery. I don't have time to screw with it, and cannot afford to have my primary transportation compromised. We'll see. Close to 2 years isn't a bad run for a bike battery. It doesn't help that I'm a cheap bastard, but if it needs it, it needs it. R |

I've had my M2's battery die 2 months after owning the bike (on the blue ridge parkway, so at least I could bump-start it). HD will warranty it, but they pro-rate it depending on how old it is. The battery I sold the M2 with was at least 5 years old and still like day 1. Never had a battery tender on it until last winter. Some batteries are hit or miss. |

Replaced the battery in my bike after 2 years.Couldn't get a Walmart battery to work. Couldn't get a Walmart battery to work so I used one from amazon. Some chi**se battery. Seems to work well. If I were to do it again, I might jump on 2 of these batteries and run them in parallel. |
