I know there is a thread somewhere on here. I have been looking. Getting ready to change my battery tomorrow after sitting in storage. I know its more complicated than my XB. I would greatly appreciate it!

I tried to get the battery out without removing my whole rear deck- no dice. So for me it was

1) off with the seat, pillion cover
2) find I needed to take of the entire rear deck, ymmv.
3 unscrew harness, unstrap and remove fusebox cover to get it out.

Now came the hard part, putting it back together. I needed to put the rubber strap back on with a pair of pliers and my rear deck didn't go back on straight the first 2 attempts. Do you have the harness upgrade?

I have had my battery in and out a few times without removing any bodywork. just loosened the brake reservoir and electric box below the battery, and the battery slipped down and out in seconds. The battery strap is fiddly but I made a coathanger hook to speed things up on reassembly.
