My buddy and I both have Ulys, his has always run a little cooler than mine and when we stop his fan would always shut off about 30 seconds before mine. I installed the comfort kit and now it is reversed my fan never runs when I am moving and always shuts off before his when we stop. We were out riding last weekend and ran into a guy at a gas stop who said he worked for HD. He had owned a ULY and we chatted quite a while. Two things I got out of the conversation, don't believe what you read in magazines about the Buell shut down, and the comfort kit reflash will work on a 2006 model. |

Especially one that apparently knows something the Buell engineers and ECMspy gurus don't. |

Guy saw my comfort kit and asked if I did the reflash, I said no it was an 06, he replied it will work no matter what they tell you. Gas station BS? could be, he was on an FJR and said he rode it to work at HD every day. We ran into him at Alturas Ca Sat. does harley have any offices in that area? |

Did he also say that he worked in the "engineering" department at Harley? Cause if he did, you know for sure he was lying... |

Well, I took the plunge and got the newest flash on the weekend - for free btw - a courtesy flash apparently. I've only ridden about 75 miles so far, and the outside temps have not been very high, but so far I think the new fan strategy is a good one. I'm pretty sure that the frame was cooler than it would have been using the old fan strategy. I felt a little empty though when I shut the bike off and didn't hear the fan come on. It was like I had lost an old friend! I'll report back here after a few hundred miles in warmer temps. |

I got flashed, well; at least my bike got the new flash. Just like everyone else, the fan runs above 15 mph and I haven’t had it come on below that. For what its worth, The bike doesn’t feel like it has as much power in high gear at highway speeds than it did earlier in the day prior to the flash. |

Badrap, I think the ECM has to "relearn" how you ride after it gets flashed. I also noticed different power characteristics initially when I got it flashed, but I've been riding the snot out of it, and it seems to be getting better. |

After a couple weeks with the new flash and a trip to Road America to watch the superbikes race the bike stays cooler and gets slightly better fuel mileage. All my fills have been 45 to 46mpg. Still surges but at lower rpms than before. Power is smoother than before, most of my use has been commuting to work which this bike works great for. l8r bb |

After the re flash, the bike initially seemed to pull off the line better and not stumble as much and it runs smoother at idle. I figure I'll do a TPS reset and just ride it like I stole it. Maybe then it will get some of its poop back. |
