although i'm late in commenting, i have been watching this progress cause even if i could trade my 12r for a cr, i'd still need a seat that won't kill me after 50 miles. and it does look like you guys are getting close to a choice so i guess i'll commit and be #60 in this venture. the only thing i want is it to be soft enough to handle my flat butt. i've had a corbin and even had it reworked and it just didn't pan out for me. i'm more than willing to give someone else a try though. i like the material that comes on the xt seat cause you don't slide around on it. it feels more rubbery than anything else so that would be the other thing i would like. if al has a line on 50$ seats to use for the pans, i'm in for that one also. that way if i do find a cr, i don't have to give the new seat up. when you talked to saddleman, did you happen to ask how much it would be if someone wanted to make a change on the seat just like i did with the corbin. (have it reworked for some reason) |

Kirb - I agree with you completely. The track seat is vinyl just like the Comfort Seat and the Original. The contrasting or same color center panel is just a bonus. Is the gel needed for future happy endings? I would rather error on the side of caution and have the gel channel. I think the track/vinyl is the option that stays true to our original goal. Track vinyl, lets do this! If the channel was contrasting may I vote for carbon grey to match the engine. Its about the only other universal color on these bikes. Thanks Danny! |

I haven't stood up to be counted yet, but I'm in for the Saddlemen with the gel channel. I'd prefer the track model but would be fine with the other two. Thanks for the effort in putting this together. Rob |

What about a memory foam filled seat? A quality builder may be able to offer a quality memory foam to build the seat with. |

I'm still in it, but what price are we looking at (MY pan vs AL's pan)? Are we looking at MORE than $250? I vote for Track Gel. I'd prefer all black, but the silver stripe is livable. |

Saddleman gel with a white stripe and a similar material to stock would be my ideal, I would need a pan though, where would that be coming from? As long as we don't stray miles from the above I'll go with the majority. Andy |

First time on this thread, but have read the entire post from beginning to now and believe that all posters are looking for some ability to just be on the bike longer and more comfortable riding. I am liking the idea of the saddleman with the gel also. |

I'm not making a lot of progress, but it isn't for lack of trying. The person that I need to talk to about this was on international travel, but he is back in country. But I've left a few messages, but voice and email, with no response so far. I just pinged him again today, hopefully we'll get some info soon. Al |

Not to get off topic, but it amazes me that the first one will probably go for 3 bills without even a actual picture of it. The seat isnt even that great! |

Indeed, folk better sell their OEM comfort seats pronto before the value drops to doo-doo once the Saddlemen seat is available. Kinda reminds me of the Dutch Tulip Market speculation of old. |

No, that is probably one of the few good bits I actually retained from econ class. Unfortunately that lesson is still relevant. |

The term "tulip mania" is now often used metaphorically to refer to any large economic bubble (when asset prices deviate from intrinsic values). |
