Anyone ever tried to make their cyclone more dirt capable? I'm not talking about motocross or anything else extreme. I guess dualsport tires and a more upright seating position would be a start. Here are a few sportster conversions: http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2009/10/09/harle y-davidson-sportster-off-road-conversions/ |

I always wanted to do a sportster but a cheap one hasn't landed in my lap. Back to you, I think the rear suspension is going to be your weak link if extended or worked hard but I did see a guy on here convert his tuber to an XB swingarm and mono shock. That would be the place too start. The front suspension can be converted much easier. |

That would be cool in a side show sorta way. It would be a really terrible dual sport, though. It's 150 lbs too heavy. |

Not to mention the ergonomics of foot, Hand and seat position do not make it easy to stand up on the pegs with any confidence in control. |

That's a good pic to visualize how much stress will be placed on the upper iso mount. Coming off a jump will pull on the shock and the weight of the engine will both rip that mount out of the neck in no time if ridden hard! IMO |
