I just got my ECMSpy software and cables... As an ECMSpy newbie, I have some questions... When changing the air/fuel ratio maps, does a TPS reset need to be performed after the mapping changes are made? Are some red fields in the maps acceptable or do they need to be minimized as much as possible? I'll be taking the X1 to Laguna Seca in July for the MotoGP races. I will be going from 5000+ feet in elevation at home to near sea level in Monterey. Should I worry about possible lean conditions at current elevation since the bike will run leaner at sea level? Thanks to you all!!!! Lee |

The TPS reset is so easy to do once your connected it makes no sense to not do it, but I do not think altering your fuel maps would requireit. Your "AFV" (adaptive fuel value) should address the elevation changes, as long as you can get it into learning mode. ( steady throttle , cruising speed)... Have fun in Monterey! |

The AFV sits consistently at 100 during idle... I figure that is a good thing? |

I am not sure what you mean by the air/fuel ratio map since I believe that "map" can only be accessed if you do datalogging. I think your are talking about the fuel maps and the values in those maps show the fuel injector pulse width or in other words the length of time (in milliseconds) the injector stays open. As for the color, the red cells indicate areas where the injector(s) stay open longer because the engine demands more fuel. Don't take this the wrong way but if I were you, I would leave the maps alone until you gain some experience tuning using ECMSPY. You are better off asking someone here to send you a map which suits your set up (intake, exhaust) and just load that map. The Buell Race Map (or Race ECM) is good/rich enough to handle most if not all intake/exhaust upgrades. Furthermore, given that you have a stable AFV of 100, there is really no need to make any changes to your current maps and the ECM (closed loop mode) will take care of the elevation change. Now if you are really itching to "play" with ECMSPY and your maps, you can concentrate on the lower left part of the map (RPM between 900-1100 and TP between 10-15, in hex not degrees) to make your idle smoother. Other than that you're good to go... Have fun. |

Thanks, Kalali!! If anyone has a map for an X1 set up with a K&N filter and loud-ass D&D pipes, I'd love to try it out!! Lee |
