Does anyone of the Professor's here knows if an oil pump of an Ully does produce a higher flow of oil than an original one ?
Thanks in advance!

The 07 XB's have a higher flow scavenging section than earlier XB's. No difference between Uly and other models AFAIK. Here's a scan from the 07 update manual:

Seems it is a complete retrofit to the early XB, I think I might want to tear my oil pump out and check it, if it comes out I might just go ahead and put in new parts (depending on cost). Anyone done this mod to an 03 9 engine?

Greg- you can't just replace the oil pump internals, you have to replace the whole pump. IIRC the cost is less than $150, so that's not a big deal. I believe somebody actually installed one on a tuber a while back; it should definitely be an easy swap on an XB. Remove two bolts, detach oil line, drop pump, remove gasket. Repeat in reverse to install new pump. If you do it, you should definitely check the condition of your oil pump drive gear (the one on the end of the crankshaft) while you've got the pump removed. The 06-up bronze gear is the preferred replacement.

That gear is the part I am worried about.

Drop the pump, get your digital camera, set it on macro mode, point it at the hole under the engine, and snap a pic. Bump the engine over a few degrees (easiest way is to put it on a stand, put it in 5th gear, and slowly turn rear wheel), and snap another pic. Repeat until you've turned the engine at least 360 degrees. Download pics to your computer and enhance as necessary. If any teeth are worn to a sharp edge, plan on replacing it. Check the KV for more info.

Good suggestion with the camera, I can probably use a digital HD video camera for a live view. Before I get to all that, I should hook up a pressure gauge and check the pressure, but I have a feeling it is a little low and causing some extra lifter noise.

The lube system at these bikes runs at fairly low pressure (<20 PSIG IIRC). Check a shop manual for the recommended range so you know what to expect.

I was able to convince myself that my 05 9sx lifters got noticeably quieter after I updated to the new style pinion gear and updated oil pump.

I'm pretty sure mine have gotten louder recently so I'm thinking either oil pump is going or lifter/rockers are going. If I have to tear the side cover off for an oil pump pinion gear, new lifters will be going in at that time.

Could be seasonal. Mine was worst when it is stinking hot.

How much oil comes out when you pull the pump? In other words, do I need to drain the tank first or will it be fine?

All of it, I'm guessing. I always just dropped it when it was time for an oil change anyway.
