So since my last bike was stolen, looking to get some kind of alarm. Looking at a Scorpio or Gorilla alarm, but I'm not sure if the module will fit anywhere? Any experience? Not rich enough yet to invest $1100 into lojack either. |

Internatrix works pretty well for the money and fits on my 9R. The Scorpio stuff has some nice features if you have the cash to get one. The Gorilla I have no comment on except it may not be FCC certified for use in the USA, so check before you buy if you care. Not much info in this thread, but if everything is known to the thieves then the alarm is much less affective: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/552830.html?1272149656 All I'll say is that pretty much everything is safe and will take effort to defeat. It should start screaming before they can get under the plastic. Now if you have an S or X model, might be a tough fit for some of the components. |

The Uly has a ton of under seat storage, so short of a wiring length issue I don't see a problem. The Lightnings on the other hand probably will be interesting, but they make up for it with room under the flyscreen. |

Yeah, I have the 12S. I also found someone who had the Gorilla alarm and mounted it so you could kinda see it. Its only about 100 bucks too. Good point. I'll see if maybe I can fit something under the flyscreen. Probably farther away from any required connections though. But I am not interested in any remote start BS. |

None of the included wires with the TW1000 will fit to the flyscreen from the tail. I suggest looking at the alarms that you might want and make the objects out of cardboard and see if you can fit everything. The siren on mine is a little big, but everything else should fit in a small area under the seat where the tools reside (I assume the storage box is the same as my R). If the Uly has more room than an R, then you will have an easy time when you get the Uly back on the road. They really suggest that the proximity sensor be positioned under the seat. Under the airbox cover would probably work but I don't think there is enough room. (Message edited by Greg_E on May 12, 2010) |

Yea that Lightning tail is gonna be a ton of fun. The Uly has a ton of room, my pic isn't a good one for it, as I had crap in the way, but half the under seat area is available.

Nothing is going to fit nicely in an S, Even the Uly might have some issues with the siren and the pager antenna, I would need to see some different angles and see how much room between any plastic and the frame. The R actually makes it pretty easy to put something like this in as there are a lot on nice little compartments and cable runs between those compartments. |

I just got my scorpio installed... Ill try to get a walk through together this weekend or so on the install. decent alarm but not the greatest customer service. now that mine is in and fully functional I don't anticipate any issues but I may try another company the next time around. |

Internatrix gave you some props on the review and video here on BadWeb Greg. |

Yup, I know. Can't believe they never made a video of the damn thing working, or even a quick install video or operational features. That camera cost me $130 shipped, add a $30 SDHC card and another $100 for some decent software and you are set. But I guess that is how they keep the cost down. I will say my only real concern is the sensitivity adjustment for the prox. sensor, I'm concerned the vibrations could change the setting over time so it will be best to check it once in a while to make sure it is working correctly. Just toss the alarm in silent mode and try it. The lights still flash and the remote still indicates an alarm so you can check it without disturbing people. |

I've had a few alarms in my vehicles. I throw the sirens away and just use the pager to alert me. I just hook up a proximity sensor, disconnect the shock sensor and throw away any vehicle disable stuff. On a cage I set the sensitivity so that a face 6 inches from the window sets it off. I have never put one on a bike. The ones I've used have shrunk in size over the years. the last one had two small plastic boxes that were each smaller than half a pack of cigarettes. Remember that lots of thieves don't operate alone. Confronting the one at the bike will get you struck from behind. I have found that people just ignore the siren and whoever is at the vehicle. Don't believe me set off your alarm and play with the bike for 3 or 4 minutes. |

Thanks for the review Greg_E! I was looking at Spy Alarm system for a little bit less $$$ with same features, but it seems like a shadier company than the InterMatrix people. Saving up for the Intermatrix alarm now...I especially like the paging feature. Me and my Orioles commemorative mini-bat will deal with the thieves |

They are very quick to respond to email support which was one thing that helped the purchase. Scorpio took a little more time to respond and the extra money just wasn't available at the time. Bang for buck the Internatrix seemed to be the best. I also did not connect the disable feature. All the alarm companies suggest connecting it to your starter. On a bike this is pointless since it is a fairly trivial task to push start most machines. If you connect it to your fuel pump relay or maybe the handle bar kill switch I think you would be a decent method of preventing the bike from rolling away. That said organized thieves will just bring a truck or trailer and a few friends so it won't matter if it runs or not. The really organized thieves bring a tow truck (flat bed) so that it looks normal and no one will question what is happening. You can always claim you are repossessing the vehicle and print up phony papers to prove it. This is what I would do if I was a car thief (that and lots of different company stickers for the side of the truck). That and research each vehicle so I know a few things about it to make stealing it easier. |

True. To beat the thieves, you must think like em. Its a good thing Buells don't get stolen often. Suck it imports! |

I keep looking at that S model, and I just don't have a good understanding of the space available. There is no additional plastic that goes on back there right? Just the seat on the top? You might be able to put the alarm controller on a little bracket above the tail light, the prox sensor could maybe go on the battery, but I can't see a decent place for the antenna unless there is enough room under the airbox cover (and I don't think there is enough room). I don't think the antenna cable is long enough to reach the windscreen, but you might be able to extend it with a short piece of cable but will need to be able to crimp suitable connectors on that cable. |

Just mount the antenna under the tail. Water from the tire won't hurt it. Put the alarm inside of some mattress foam to keep the vibrations down instead of a bracket. Or use double sided foam tape. Or just put the whole shabang in the airbox. |

I wouldn't put the antenna where it can be seen, I like to keep everything hidden so it's a surprise. I also didn't put the little blinky light on mine. The comment about vibrations is that there is a sensitivity adjustment on the prox sensor, I'm concerned about it getting out of adjustment and I don't think foam would help very much. Everything else should be soldered to the boards so vibration shouldn't affect it at all. |

Got it all installed. Bought the Internatrix 1000, seemed to be the best bang for my buck. Huge pain in the ass for the XB12S though. Somehow everything but the siren would fit under the seat. Took about 4 hours to install everything and get it squared away. Had to move the cable harness, and the main unit fit very snugly on the left side of the battery. I put the perimeter sensor on top of the battery, but I think I will have to move it, it looks like it is raising the seat up some. Will update on how it actually works and put up pictures if anyone cares to see. |
