Anybody know what is the last model year for the XB9SL? Wife really loves Buells and the SL has a nice low 28.6" seat for her. While i'm here do any of the newer Buells have 28.6" seat or lower? I don't think so but asking is free. | ||

They made the XB12Scg up through 2010. It's basically the same bike with the 1200cc engine. Same seat height. | ||

Xb12scg, Blast. Also to conciser - The SCG/SL seat fits on the S and SX models so depending on how critical the seat height is you could get a normal height bike and swap seats. Or you could put a S seat on the SL/SCG if you find the SCG seat to be inadequate. | ||

The suspension should be lower on L and scg models however. The scg is the best of them in my opinion only though | ||

Got an 03 sl I use as a track bike that occasionally finds it's way onto the street, they only made like 1500 of these for 03...but keep looking, these are really fun bikes! | ||

I have a regular height S model with the low seat from an SCG...At a 28" inseam I can't get both feet on the ground. There are the occasional SCG owners that want to swap suspensions to gain some suspension travel...you change the forks and shock. A Blast is a good idea too if were are not talking spirited sport riding...A Blast with a low seat is pretty low...I can flatfoot one easily and i'm real short. | ||

Thx for your posts. The 1200cc engine will be too much for my wife, on account of weight and experience. Weight: She is 5'0" 100lbs. Experience: This will be her first bike, and although she has been riding pillion with me years, she has never driven a bike before (In fact she still hasn't taken her cource yet). The Blast may be a good place to start but she really likes the XB bikes, and is afraid that with time the offering will only get slimmer and slimmer. So granted the blast may be a better learner bike for a year or 2 then move up to the XB, we may just go straight for an XB and try to really ease into it. Other bikes she is considering are the XB9SX and the BMW 650GS. She loves coming offroad with me with the Uly, and would love to come with on her own bike. However.... significant skill is requiered to drive dual sports off-road compared to a dirtbike, and so we are even more hesitant on whether she could be best served with a (road approved) nice little dirtbike as a learner (difficulties in the mud are usually less nasty then difficulties in traffic). However, seat height for a beginer may be an issue for a dirtbike? Anyhow, these are fun problems to have to work on with your wife!
