So, how do i change the oil for my primary gear chain?? Does that oil drain out when i pull the drain plug or is it a completly seperate entity? I am about to do my first oil change on my bike. Sorry about the dumb questions, but i would rather ask a dumb question instead of making a stupid mistake!! I know not to use gear oil, i actually am going to stick with mobil 1. Right now it has the oil that harley put in it. I know the oil they used is not synthetic. I am definetly going to switch to synth. Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks guys, Justun |

Per Sparky, should be in your owners manual "Subject 1.8, Clutch, in Section 1 Maintenance" Transmission fluid change Go synthetic, Mobil 1 or Amsoil, 20w-50 or 75w-90 (both are well liked around here it seems). And don't give HD any more money for their overpriced stuff. |

There is a drain plug for the transmission section just below the clutch access cover. You fill it by removing the clutch access cover and it takes 1 quart (at least mine takes a quart). |

Might as well do both since your there. The other drain plug is under the swing arm. |
