For those whom have installed the above. I ordered springs for 180-190 lb rider. After install, to get free sag of 16mm and rider sag of 30, I have no preload. Also the dampening is at min and I still get very slow comp and rebound. I used 5 weight oil. What is your experience? |

Were you able to answer your own question? (RE: slider post). If not, I will be taking this task on over the weekend and may be able to offer my findings.... |

Rodrob, did you take this project on yourself? I seem to remember you were asking for some assistance a week or two ago. |

Yes i did it myself. See installing Showa cartridges without special tools post. This discussion is independent of the slider issue. That was resolved prior to these findings. |

I'd have to feel it to know if it were right or wrong, but you should expect, even at minimum settings, a fair bit of damping. It should be smooth, but slow/firm. Even at minimum settings, I would expect this kit to serve only the most quickly paced street riders on mountain roads well. It's really a track kit. Anything other kind of riding is likely to be a bit firm/miserable. You could try lighter oil. Race tech makes an excellent 2.5 weight fluid that's extra, extra slippery. That's what I ran in mine... it is very nice. |

I've been hesitant to reply, because although I have the 25mm kit I bought the used forks complete from HDFR in Frederick, Maryland. So, I don't know for sure that the kit was installed "as delivered". If it was, my findings are quite different from yours. I have 1.0 springs for 200 lbs., and I had the rebound only two clicks from max. I had them apart last week to add two low speed shims to the rebound valve so that I can operate in the middle of the adjustment range. It appeared they had never been apart as the threads were still peened over. FWIW........ |

Racetech and Traxxion Dynamics usually recommend 2.5wt oil when a fork is revalved with their internals. 5wt may be too thick. I'd try 2.5wt (of the same brand and type, as one brand's 5wt may not have the same viscosity as another brand's 5wt) and see if that helps. If not, maybe you installed something incorrectly. Worst case, you could probably remove the fork tubes and ship them off to E B R to have them make sure you got everything right. |

Thanks all for the feedback. Ebr recommend 5w fluid so I went with that. I don't expect a street ride. This is a track setup. The bike handles great on the canyons. I will know more after the race at willow Sunday. My only concern is that I am at the far end of adjustment and was wondering where others have ended up. |
