Mad Max on the pole! Crutchlow again had a good superpole. Now, if Toseland could just get a decent superpole, and Crutchlow could maintain his speed during race distance, Yamaha may just have a shot. Haga, as usual, didn't qualify very well but I've seen (at least last year) that it doesn't mean much as far as he's concerned. Fabrizio has found his speed... I can only hope Nitro Nori does too. Xaus was actually faster than Corser during qualifying? This should be interesting! | ||

Haslam is #1 at the championship, thanks to his speed. Not impressed with Suzuki at all. Down on power and bad handling. Aprilia looked perfect today. Shame for Toseland , really bad crash. Monza looks really dangerous. Get well soon Mr. Toseland. It was good to see him fighting for the win in race 1. | ||

Do you remember the reviews the 1125 got from the journos ?? Very negative reviews that pushed Buell sales down , and never helped the survival of Buell. Unfortunately part of the blame for that can be laid at Buells own doorstep. The bikes that were launched to the world press at Laguna were simpy not ready and were suffering from poor fuelling and suspension amongst other things. Although Buell did point out that these were pre-production models that won't wash at a world product launch and the bikes got flamed as a result. Poor styling didn't help either though  By the time the production bikes were sorted the damage to their (and Buells)reputation was already done. Good weekend at Monza although Biaggi looked pretty much unbeatable all weekend. The chicane was a joke and I'm not at all surprised it caused the accident in race two. I think that the next round in South Africa won't be so flattering to the Aprilia and expect Ducati to get back to the front again on a bumpy circuit that favours their bike more. | ||

I think Max may have had more of a fight in race two if his major rivals (Toseland and Rea) hadn't been taken out on the first corner, but he did look lke he was cantering most of the weekend and had no problems getting back past Haslam in race one I hate to think how fast that Aprilia will be once they get the gear driven cams fitted after this weekend  What's the betting they race it in GP next year in some form or another. | ||

...on the armchair dyno? I was surprised to see the Yamahas going so well and it was good to have Ben Spies on the commentary for the second race. While Monza invariably provides a great spectacle, it doesn't give that much indication of form for the rest of the season as it is so different to any other track. As long as the racing is this close though..... who cares? | ||

Those were some looooooonnnnggg straights and I was surprised to see the BMW not walking away from everyone. I guess when every bike has been tweeked the power is very close. | ||

2kx1: My thoughts exactly. Also, Corser's been complaining about the brakes. If you don't trust the brakes to stop you, you don't WFO on those long straights before those sharp turns either. | ||

Was Aprilia using the gear driven cams this weekend ?? I thought they were , because they were +20hp than the rest of the bikes. As far as I was aware the original ruling by the FIM was that Aprilia were free to use the new cam gear drive only AFTER Monza but not before. I am not aware if the ruling had been changed since though as I was away for last week. The BMW is certainly fast in a straight line and is cleaning up in Superstock racing. However, the S1000RR has traction control/electronic wheelie control and all sorts of whizz bang electrickery etc fitted as standard, so has a big advantage in Superstock compared to the other bikes that don't have all the gizmos as stock. By the time they get to Superbike spec all the other teams are on a level playing field or better in terms of electronics, so the advantage is negated. | ||

Hey, it's their first podium. I never said they were one of the leading teams in WSBK. I don't think anyone would say that about any team after just one third place finish. Just implied they were on their way, that's all. Having Tardozzi in their corner seems to be the difference this year. | ||

Over here everyone in the media is pretty stoked that BMW and Aprilia are doing well. The media over here don't report or comment on American bikes beating the Japanese over here because sadly nobody races them at top level. If they did they would undoubtedly get more coverage. | ||

Blake , I think BMW is just getting started . With Tardozzi running the team and the chance that Bayliss may come out of retirement, I am sure that next year Toseland,Rea and Clutchslow will be the least of their worries. | ||
