I talked to a guy with a fire bolt and he said that his muffler was stainless steel under the coating so he sanded it down and does not have to deal with the factory coating rusting. Does anyone know about this, and is the uly the same? |

Yup, I think you should sand it down. Seems like on th eUly the paint rusts because they used flat black metal flake paint and the metal flakes cause the rust. Only kidding w/you. |

Buell used garbage steel and paint on my 09. Get new stuff and coat it before you use it. As for the stainleess steel ??? Drummer is the only one making a SS muffler for the XB's that I know of. |

He must have been referring to the header pipes, not the muffler? I know the muffler is not stainless steel. Wish it was. |

""Does anyone make a jackable after market muffler that is as quite as the stock muffler and rust resistant?"" You can always ceramic coat (Jet-Hot) your muffler - I had mine done for $100 locally. . |

I had the headers and muffler ceramic coated on my '06 Uly, and a year (+14,000 miles) later it still looked good. |
