Thanks for any reply's. I have a 2001 M2 and 99-2000 and 2002 shop manuals. I just went thru the carb of the 2001 and if you flop the carb upside down there is a jet next to the float bowl and the intake gasket to the manifold. What the heck do I turn it out? The bike has a sidewinder intake and not a stock exhaust. The factory manual does not say anything about adjustment or spec's for it. In fact both manuals do not say or show anything about this screw. The tip of it is very fine also. Please let me know and thanks again. It was 1-1/4 out and I set it to 1-1/2 now. Also the factory manual exploded view for the jets does not really match the actual carb nor is there any mention of the adjustment of the above mentioned screw. Some clarification: you cannot see the jets when the float bowl is attached. The jets are both screwed securely into their positions. The screw that you have turned 1 1/2 turns out is a screw that you can see when the float bowl is on and is recessed into a (how to describe) short cylindrical tower closest to the intake manifold. From that, we are discussing the idle mixture screw. It is set and sealed at the factory to run lean even with stock components to meet emissions regs. Common wisdom is to turn the screw 2/12 turns out. Ideally, source a carborater adjusting screwdriver, which has an 80 degree bend and a swivel so you can reach the adjusting screw while the engine is running. Adjust to smoothest idle. Thanks Sportyeric I ran it out 1-1/2 turns and it starts and idles just great. Another question answered. Thanks. I actually had it installed and tested earlier today. |
