Angeles Crest Hwy still closed due to winter closure. I'll be reporting its status weekly here until it opens. This is a key road for Glendale BRAG's portion of the upcoming "Idyllwild Meet in the Middle" three-way club ride on June 27. |

Hrmm. The Crest typically doesn't open all the way through till July 4th weekend. No big deal if it isn't open, we can take the low road around: Forest Highway to Mount Emma to Fort Tejon to Big Pine Road. That plops you in Wrightwood |

Songdog Spring Rally coming up May 1. If you are not going to the No Wine 'n Tour or the Superbike races in Sonoma, let's benchrace around the campfire, drink beer, eat tri-tips & listen to the band. This is the place for the best tasting beef ribs & tri-tip around, IMHO. This'll be our first stop on the way to the BRAG rally. Sparky 'n Jen |

The no-holds-barred doc that looks at the glamorous, dangerous world of high-end motorcycle racing world during the course of the 2001 and 2002 Grand Prix seasons will open at Hollywood’s ArcLight on April 23. Additional bookings are set for April, May and June in cities around the country. Director and writer Mark Neale adds: “FASTER's credits state that the film is dedicated to the great MotoGP world champion Barry Sheene, who died last March. It is also dedicated to the millions of bikers everywhere who are sick of Hollywood biker drivel. I'm just a fan who got the chance to make a film about something he loves very dearly. I am one of millions. This movie, like motorcycling itself, is for everyone.” Faster is narrated by Ewan McGregor and stars Valentino Rossi, Max Biaggi, Garry McCoy and John Hopkins. Music is by tomandandy and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

Wow! Fun ride to Solvang... yeah the traffic got kinda heavy but overall couldn't have asked for better weather. Never been to the Solvang motorcycle museum - can't wait for pics of the whole thing! Timbo - make SURE your wife makes our next ride OK?? I am actually thinking of slacking off a whole bunch and providing navigation for a second group on our next ride. I'm on the track at least 3 days a month as it is so am more than comfy just putting along - that way we are encouraging newer riders to come along. Glad she could make it. |

The SCAB meting that would normally be May 6th (first thursday of the month) will be on May 11.. From Nelson: "May 11 - Southern California Club-BRAG meeting at Bobby’s Café 4901 El Camino Real, Carlsbad starting at 7:00. Show up early and enjoy the food. Note this is a change to the normal meeting date and we will be inside instead of on the patio. Many of us will be at the BRAG No Wine’n Tour during the regular meeting date. We plan to have a full report on the Tour with pictures at the meeting. We will also have door prizes." Haven't seen the mail from Fread, but I assume the SD Sportfighters meeting wil be at O'harleys next monday as usual. I won't be there, will be at the BRAG thing mentioned above. AL |

Our own Mr. Slaughter My wife Betty (on the far left) The lovely Candie More great bikes And our group in the museum In all we had twenty bikes with twenty two people come along (some had left early, before the group pic). Hi FMJ, Long time no see. Jen & I are starting out the weekend doing the Songdog Spring Rally on Saturday, then leaving Sunday morning for Vallejo. We'll be trailering the bike from the Songdog because of a turn signal interference problem I just discovered trying to fit my saddlebags to the Firebolt with a Ventura luggage rack. Timbo, great pics. Glad y'all had a good time on the ride. Wish I could'a been there. Sparky |

Hey all, Any and all folks wanting to pit with us for the Fon-Tucky 6-hour on 11 and 12th of June, please come on out to Willow Springs on Saturday May 15th. We'll be having a meeting starting approximately 3PM. IF the engine is together in time, Fread will be taking the racebike out at 5 for the 50 mile solo race. (engine still in Bartels for machining and exhaust is in the mail) Before then, we'll be getting crew assignments and taking shirt sizes for those who don't already have their shirt. I'll also be out for the Solo race but on the (ahem...) Suzuki. Not wanting to risk the Buell anymore than we have to before the 6-hour race. We're also going to have the bike up at Pahrump for the BRAG track day and if any of you are going along for the track day, we can work out details then. Bottom line - as the time approaches, we are going to be asking for firm commitments so we can start setting up. Still needing about 4 more - also it's not ALL physical! We need scorer/timer, need a communications person - somebody to go deliver/get messages and hold onto all statistics for the day. Of course, anybody who wants to, PLEASE come out to spectate! It's gonna be tons of fun... and then there's going to be Formula USA in Vegas in September! Timbo - thanks for posting the Pics!! I'm really glad Betty felt comfortable enough that she wants to come out again. That's good to hear. Sunny took a long time before deciding to ride with us - all the usual fears about not being fast, precise, whatever enough to keep up with the group. Ain't like that at all. Fun stuff! Bummer we had to take the flatland slab back home when they turned us around because of the fire!!! |

Timbo ALSO neglected to mention that he performed TWO rescues! One when a shifter broke on a rider's S1. He fashioned a cruiser-type shifter for him - the second was when a rider's spin-on oil cooler backed off and we couldn't hand-tighten it. Timbo headed into town while we stayed behind to watch the bike and keep the guy company. He comes back with a strap wrench, engine cleaner and enough oil to get into town. All fixes accomplished and allowed all riders to finish the rides. Forget your spares, invite Timbo on your next ride!!! |

Sorry it took me a bit of time to throw this on here, it's been a few weeks. I've got an 8000 mile trip planned this summer to benefit the American Cancer Society. The ride is from Southern California to St. Johns, Newfoundland. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=6817&post=241759#POST 241759 I am looking for any input on Southern California Buell dealerships (LA-ish area, or around Ferris's stomping grounds) that have a decent sized BRAG club or whatever and may be interested in throwing somewhat of a kickoff for this trip. Looking at my BRAG atlas, there are at least 20 dealerships in that area, and I know nothing about them. Any input would be greatly appreciated, as well as contact for the Buell friendly there. I'd also like to meet up with as many of you as possible, I'll be at Jerry's pad for a few days getting prepped for the trip, and visiting some relatives in the area. Any input you guys may have, I'd really appreciate! Alex |

Alex, Try Golden State Brag out of Glendale, they have by far the biggest group of Buell enthusiasts in the LA area. Try to get a hold of Tim Hurley 2whlnut@sbcglobal.net, he should be able to get something going. I hope to see you while you're in town. James |
