Hi all, I need some help. I saw a reference to a National Cycle universal windshield mounted on a Lightning. Would anyone have any info or maybe pics for such a thing. I am modding my STT to be more of an adventure touring bike and am trying to get more wind protection. So if you have any input on the various aftermarket set-ups or any "homebrew" set-ups that work any info would be really helpful. Thanks! Murf2 | ||

Check out the Laminar lip for the XB, looks good and adds some wind protection, and cheap too. They have a web site. | ||

i have the laminar lip, but dont think it's big enough. it does make a noticeable difference. not like 'WOW!!' noticeable, more like 'Meh' noticeable i'd think the madstad screen would be a better option. or get some transparent material and make up yer own, as big as you dare! | ||

Palmer adjustable windshield brackets can be bolted to the lightning flyscreen. Then you can add a Uly low or tall shield.   http://www.palmerproducts.co.uk/ Click on "Products By Bike" and then "Buell XB STT". | ||

Zero Gravity makes a windscreen that is a couple of inches taller than stock. I use one on my STT, it makes a small difference at freeway speeds | ||

I use one on my STT, it makes a small difference at freeway speeds" Azbuell - I'm assuming you are talking about the sport touring screen... looks like from the pics on the zero gravity website that you would still be able to see over the screen even if tucked - is that true? I'm thinking of getting one and deciding between red and clear. | ||

Thanks for all the input guys. I think maybe the Palmer or Madstad set-up would work. I am actually looking for something bigger. I am used to riding behind a full windshield. I know I will have to adapt somewhat tho. Murfs | ||

Mikef5000: I like the way your solution looks! Can you give us a review? Negative. I do not have this solution, I just knew it existed, so I posted it here. I believe I recall a picture from Froggy's old SS with this setup though. I could be wrong, but if he had it, I'm sure he can post a review. (although it may end with simply saying how much better the 1125 is at everything and that we're waisting our time playing with XB's  ) Palmer also make larger windshields and support brackets for them. Check out their website. They may have everything you want. The exchange rate definately does not play in our favor, but their prices are quite fair. | ||

Wow, I didn't read the second half of your post, I was gonna comment about how I ditched the setup and got a bike with better wind protection, but you took the words out of my mouth! I got something really nice up my sleeve for the XB that will make even my 1125 feel naked | ||

Not yet, but I will say its large, expensive, requires significant modifications, and should end up giving me 15mpg more due to the superior aerodynamics  (Message edited by froggy on May 03, 2010) | ||

I bought the Zero Gravity tall screen a while back....It does very little in the way of helping with the wind blast....I put the stocker back on...it looks better... | ||

I purchased a Madstad screen for each of my TT’s and love them. One big plus is that they are adjustable, so you can dial in the right height. http://www.madstad.com/ My White Buell has the lower 2-up seat so I went with the Madstad Buell Lightning shield. Black Buell has the taller solo seat. For it I put a Spyder shield on the Buell Lightning brackets. I have digital pictures of both, but cannot reduce picture size from my work computer. I have a Cee Bailey screen, it cuts the wind down a lot, I use it on long trips, puts me in a calm wind zone on the highway.  |
