When I bought this bike I asked the ex-owner when he changed the air filter last. He said he couldn't remember. So I ordered a UNI filter, it came last week. While I had the bike under the microscope for the primary case issue, I decided let's check that filter out. This is what I found!  I should've known better since the guy lived kinda in the sticks, but the bike had been running so well up til now. I had no idea! It's a testament to the Buell's over engineering. Tough as nails! Or should I say mouse urine..... | ||

Amazing little creatures those little mice are! Found the same thing in a BMW K1100 RS I was restoring for a friend. They seem to be able to get into anything! | ||

Last year, after overnighting in the Adirondack forest, stopped to have breakfast and went to charge someone's mobile device, removed seat and found a live mouse... he was definitely the fastest mouse in the neighborhood that day, was running over the 'ton' regularly that morning. Let it live to ride another day. Thankfully, it didn't eat any of my wiring. | ||

+1 on the cats. My cat mistakes rabbits for big mice and leaves those by the front door to. I think he just eats the mice. | ||

I put my bike in the barn for a couple months last winter. mice got behind the wind screen and chewed on some wires. | ||

We tested a mouse from a pet shop, one time. The little guy could get through a 14mm hole easily. The engineer said that Japan mice were fatter than American mice... Who'd a thunk? | ||

Yeesh. That's nasty. They did the same to my outboard motor. Chewed through a fuel line too. My dad used to keep an older Dodge Dakota at his cabin, and I was borrowing it one day. Stranded me in the middle of the woods. Found that the critters had basically destroyed all the wiring to the fuel pump. | ||

Those little bastids work fast. When my Honda Fit was only months old, I was driving it to work every day and working long hours far from home. Those busy little worker bees managed to fill my airbox as well as my heater intake with food and bedding! I'm thinking it was squirrels though. Need to warm up the Benjamin-Sheridan .22 | ||

No kidding about those mice working fast. My dad and I hiked a portion of the AT last year, and in one night a mouse managed to shred a roll of toilet paper, carry it bit by bit into the bottom of my dad's pack, build a nest, and have 4 baby mice inside it. Not what we expected to find when we went to make breakfast the next day. |
