My '09 Uly blew the fuel pump fuse and I'm not sure what caused it. The bikes got the comfort kit/reflash. So while sitting in some road construction traffic I could feel it was getting fairly hot without the fan running. Next thing I know the motor just shuts off so I push it off the road and pull the seat off. I found that it blew the fuel pump fuse and it looks like the seat is rubbing on the gray ecm connector (not sure if they are related). Once I replaced the fuse it stared right up and was able to ride it home without any problems.
Has anyone else have a issue like this? Where would be the best place to start looking for the problem or should I forget about it until it happens again?

Any help is appreciated,
Bob

I would also like some info/input on this. I was out last Friday and stopped for about 15min, when I got back on the bike and started it up it just died. Found a blown fuel pump fuse replaced with the spare and got about 50yds and it blew again. I've looked over all the wiring and plugs and can not find anything suspect.
I've got a fuse in now that has not blown yet but I'm not confident about going far from the house like this.

My bike is a '09XP with 850mi. It was around 85 degrees and I have the comfort kit installed (no flash). I was chalking it up to the "techs" removing the light harness but, seems I'm not the only one.

Could this be the fuel pump "chaffing" issue?

Mine was a bad main ground at the frame right next to the battery. All the current from the starter was trying to make it's way back to the battery through the only route it could find, which happens to be through the fuel pump wiring. Check the plug where the fuel pump connects to the main harness, you may have a burned terminal in there.

When mine died, it was something that was seen before by my dealer, and They fixed it under warranty. Nothing else necessary to make the bike run just fine.

Pull the fuel pump and make sure the wires are not chaffing. This was a problem for the 06 bikes. I think they updated the fuel pump after that year to address the problem, but it may not have been completely fixed.

My 08XT did it also. It was very low on fuel and very hot in slow traffic. It had been misfiring a bit and I figured the fuel (about 0.4 gal left) was boiling and feeding bubbles into the pump.
Added a gallon of gas, replaced the fuse and it has been fine since.
