Ok, so I have a 2009 XB12Ss, and a 1999 S3. The factory HP rating on them both is about the same. I know the '08+ had some upgrades - crank pin, DDFI3, oil pump... But, from the HP/torque perspective, are they pretty much the same motor (e.g. same heads, cams, compression...)? |

The two motors mentioned share nothing as far as I know. Possibly some gaskets and fasteners, but that would be it. For 2008, just about everything below the heads changed, and the XBs use different heads than the tubers. |

Ok, I just thought it strange that after a decade of evolution, they still had essentially the same HP rating from the factory... |

The HP may be the same but Buell really spent the R&D resources on refinement and reliability. |

"quoted" hp may be the same but actual??? in the uk claimed hp for the X1(101 in the US)was 95 and 93.5(we got same cams as the X1)for the M2, XB,s varied from 101 to 105 ??? rwhp for stock TS headed tuber was about 85,with XB12 about 95,but this can vary from bike to bike, |
