My bro wrecked an 09 cr on palomar, i just spent the weekend fixing it back up, i fired it up and some smoke came out, a little bit of white smoke for about 30-45 seconds. Then when the smoke stopped, some fuel came out, just a few dots, it appeared to be fuel, it may have been oil. Before i fired it up i had changed out the old oil to amsoil.
The old speedometer got smashed, and i don't have the new one yet, so i don't know if it is throwing any codes.

Is my engine ok? The bike rolled several times, so some oil could have gotten up top, but we took the bike to the h-d dealer after the wreck and they started it for 15 min.

also, when it shut off the bike, the fuel pump kept cycling, i let it go for about 5 min and it kept going, so i disconnected the battery.

You posted this before, the "smoke" was steam in the motor being burned off.

Double check that fuel/oil leak and figure out what it is and where its coming from, may just be a loose drain plug.

The fuel pump will cycle for up to 10 minutes. That is normal.

the fuel/oil is coming out of the exhaust, so where do i look, the motor, or the exhaust?

There can be oil trapped in the muffler and it may take a few miles to get it hot enough to burn off. I had a TURBO GPZ 750 that I thought the turbo seal was bad and it turned out to be over full.

Make sure the fuel isn't just water condensation. Let the bike get hot enough to burn off any fuel, oil, water. I'd only worry if this happens all the time.

thanks for the replies, i think it was just steam, as it has not done that anymore, it also stopped leaking oil/fuel out of the exhaust. also, i checked the oil level and it was a little low, so i got the oil level right and rode it this morning. All i can say is wow! it feels like being shot out of a canon. Also, i love the highbars, it really turned it into a comfortable bike.
