I have an '08 12R. Has anyone tried or have any experience with (9309 - 99-09 DirectLink ECM Remapping Key)from American Sportbike? |

I just bought one for my '08. Haven't plugged it into my XB12Ss yet cuz some idiot knocked my bike over a few weeks ago and took off. The exhaust has been hit pretty hard, so not sure whether it's worth tuning it yet, but I might do it to get a feel for tuning until the new parts arrive. |

Direct Link looks like our only way to modify late model Buells. Al is great support and a tuning Guru at American Sportbike. It is my strong suggestion to Mesozoic to hook up to your bike with Direct Link ASAP and make sure they are compatible. Read the ECM map and open everything! The XB12s are having great success but my xb9's software was not formated right and I have been waiting for over 50 days for Technoresearch to crack Buell's codes! Let us know here if yours works. |

So I jacked the DirectLink into my '08 XB12Ss within the last few days. I can read the ECM mapping, I can see the gauges dance, I can see the fuel and spark maps in realtime, but I can't datalog and I don't have access to edit the idle, AFR map, cranking fuel, and most of the useful tuning tables. I just emailed TechnoResearch to see what's up with it and I'll keep everyone posted on how the situation pans out. I HAVE, however, been able to reset the TPS, the AFV, and view temperatures and all that sort of stuff. So it's partially working, just not entirely functional. Note that http://xoptiinside.com/ seems to have a way to tune the '08 and newer ECMs using TunerPro and converting the output of ECMSpy into the TunerPro binary format. I've not tried this yet, but it looks like it's supposed to work. I might go this route if TechnoResearch tells me that they're still working on "cracking the codes." |

Yes the Tunerpro works from what I can tell, I was experimenting on my 2008 1125R last night. I was able to fetch the EEPROM off my bike and play around with it (I am just wanting to play with the idle for now), but currently am having difficulty trying to get it to burn back onto the ECM. I emailed Xopti and am hoping its something stupid. |

How did you fetch the binary from your 1125R's EEPROM? Did you use EcmSpy or ECMRead? I've successfully read my '08 XB12's binary using EcmSpy. Xopti's website describes the steps involved in reading the binary... just read with EcmSpy (or ECMRead, never tried it) and load the resulting .epr file with TunerPro. That works for me and I've been able to edit the binary successfully. I would be inclined to think that you'd be able to write back using EcmSpy and definitely with ECMRead. |

I fetched it with ECMRead, as per Xopti's instructions on another page on here. I can edit it fine, but I can't write it back to the ECM with ECMRead as it says that the file is too large. I can't even write the stock backup back onto the ECM. Doesn't matter, my ECM has a old calibration on it, I will have the dealer update it before I tinker with it again. |

Is it possible to write to the EEPROM using TunerPro? It knows the definition via the XDF so what's stopping it from sending a serial output stream on a COM port to reflash it? Let us know what Xopti has to say about reflashing on your bike... I am very interested and would appreciate it. BTW, I found this post about burning a new tune on another forum from Gunter... seems very informative: http://www.buelletinboard.com/forums/showpost.php?s=ab72648d3a94fd0719feccb7d547dc55&p=130630&postcount=10 (Message edited by Mesozoic on March 30, 2010) |

Alright, so I have now successfully reflashed the ECM on my '08 XB12Ss with ECMRead. It works!!! I didn't do anything crazy, but it fixed my erratic idle problem: Flag: Active Muffler Control Configuration: Enable AMC feature changed from Set to Not Set.. Table: Table: Warmup Enrichment changed. Table: Table: Idle Correction changed. Constant: Idle Maxiumum Engine Speed changed from 1480 RPM (0x05C8) to 1200 RPM (0x04B0). Table: Table: Warmup Enrichment changed. Table: Table: Warmup Enrichment changed. Table: Table: Warmup Enrichment changed. Froggy, you must be using the wrong XDF to reflash yours or something. If you've read your ECM with ECMRead, what did it name the file? The first 8 characters are the strategy code (BUEYDxx, etc.). Which one? My bike has BUEZ0DP0, so I was using the BUEZ0 file from the ECMspy website. ECMread fetched the EEPROM and saved it as BUEZD0P0 12-17-08_20100327-203246.xpr Those instructions on the link are the same ones I followed, he has them posted on here too. I also have an 09 1125CR I need to put back together, so I will try playing around with that and see. I will have an updated flash put on my 08 whenever I bring it in for service next so I am not worried about that. |

I see. Your machine being an 1125R is probably the issue. The binary is definitely different and the definition is not 100% known. Soon enough, I imagine. You could always read and reflash yours from another 1125R as well. |

The plot thickens. Maybe it's best to leave people's names out of the messages? (Message edited by Mesozoic on March 31, 2010) |

Gents, I am running a German 08 MY XB12XT with a BUEZD DDFI3 version and I would very much appreciate, if someone would share with me a north american *.xpr file (from his stock ECM having the M31US25z Update and/or the M31US261 Update. I would compare such a file with the one I have today in my ECM. Of course I can share at any time my BUEZD113 *.xpr, which is currently an EUM31EC030z update. Thanks in advance for your great help Ryerson |

My bike is running BUEYD which I can share with you if you want. My bike has received an updated flash a few times from the dealership. What is the difference between BUEZD and BUEYD? Anyhow, send me a PM and your email and we can share some data. |

I did ask Gunter how to get the file the easy way into ecmread and back to the ecm. He did respond with directions. I took what he wrote and wrote the above in my words and layout. I didnt just copy and past his email with his email address. I mentioned his name as reference giving credit to the person whom I got my data from. Re: tunerpro ... I didt make or write any of the ecmread stuff or the xdf files. These are all the ecmspys data's. I was just trying to simplify and post a simple how to get from point A to point B and back. Hi Experts, tried today first time to burn the EEPROM with ECMread. To be safe, I first downloaded the original *xpr file and then, without any changes, tried to burn the EEPROM with that xpr file. ECMread Error occurs:: "File size 3412 does not fit to BUEZD ECM type!" (yes, during reading I get the Error:"response is not ACK: 0x15" Has anyone an idea what to do? Thanks to all! Ryerson |
