Ratbuell, too funny. I'm setting up cuda tri-optic triplets as my turn signals. Did it need anything changed to make them flash correctly? Know how bright they are, also know they dont draw much. 09XT wrapped pipes comfort kit insulated inside rh frame 2 12v outlets inside top case led interior light for same bright led triplets behind topcase reflector as brake lights magnets inside airbox cover - tank bag 1" risers MIO c320 gps in an otter box with bluetooth dongle usb power source for both of above $19 Autozone driving lights on home made bar auto-switch for above Huge home made windshield... in progress Memphis lowers Case trim panels painted to match Want: taller bars with less pull back (angle) highway pegs (maybe) (Message edited by tiltcylinder on April 19, 2010) |

Tilt - I actually disassembled the lights. If you take them out of the housing, you'll see there's a large metal heat sink attached to the circuitry, and three individual three-LED units. If you remove a couple of micro-torx screws, you can pull the individual 3-LED cards off the heatsink assembly, leaving the pin sockets for power. I have to look at one I have labelled in the garage, but there's four pins; one is hot, two are ground, and I think one is unused. I just soldered small-gauge bare wires to the hot and ground sockets on the card, plugged 'em into the bike harness, and let the LED flasher relay do it's thing (turn the power on/off/on/off), flashing the lights. I discarded the built-in flasher circuitry, mainly because it was too large to fit in the stock turn signal housing. I'll get some pics tonight. |

Ratbuell, thanks. Figured all I'd need would be the American Sport Bike flasher. All the excess has been discarded and 24ga wire soldered to the boards where the pins originate. Belt sanded the back of the reflector until the LED trio fit and glued in. Seems like it will be a extremely 'visible' signal to sleepy cage drivers. If it turns out as well as the top box... stopped with a turn signal on should seem like an emergency service vehicle (will it end up drawing the drunks, the way highway cop lights do? Let's hope not) |
