Was wondering if they ever got all the bugs out of them and if one would make a good every day rider. Also how radical is the riding position, I'm old ! |

I have two 08 models and an 09. At this point, a lot of the kinks have been worked out of the 08s, and a used one that's had the map, blinkers and clutch update is likely to be a good buy. The 09 came out of the box pretty sorted, IMHO. I don't think the 1125r is a good everyday bike, honestly. The ergonomics do lean sport, though the pegs are lower and the bars higher, flatter and less forward than most supersport bikes. Still, it wasn't designed for commuting. |

New 2009 1125CR's are pretty plentiful (check the bike finder feature at buell.com) and are well-sorted. The riding position is not radical and you can add footpegs from a Ulysses to make it a little more relaxed if needed. |

I have an R and a CR - as an everyday rider the CR is a much better bet ... ... but the R is a real mile eater and is much better on a longer run - but the riding position is more "sporty" and can take some getting used to if you're not already into that style of bike. |

66 isn't "old" Depends on what your "normal" daily journey is like I guess. An 09 CR would be fine for most days (especially with the high bars fitted) but the R is a better bet on the freeway (IMHO). As has been said before the riding position is on the "sports" side (although surprisingly comfortable if coming from another supersport bike). What's your riding background - just so we can guage what you're used to - maybe someone can compare notes |

Yep! Just make sure you have all the recalls and other service bulletins done. The 2 year warranty will cover any other issues that *may* happen down the road. Good news is, the issues are known and fixes are available should you have any problems.

It is a great bike and can be ridden fine every day, but if you intend on commuting, I recommend you look at also picking up something better suited for that. I commute on mine and am getting just shy of 50mpg. Problem is, the bike is like a scalpel when you would be better off with a steak knife. Yes, both are knifes and both will cut your dinner, but the steak knife will be easier to use for your purpose. You can perform surgery too with a steak knife, but obviously you are going to make a mess.

Depends. I find the stock ergonomics to be too laid back and put me directly in the wind, yet others like to ruin their bikes and add ridiculously low foot pegs and high bars. Ultimatally, you need to test ride one and see if its for you. If not, check out the Ulysses, its perfect for the older crowd. |

Well I have a 95 Fatboy, 80 & 81 GS1100s, 2 Kawasaki Z1s, an 1105/115 hp built 76 KZ900, 80 KZ1000, 82 GPZ750, 78 XS650E std, 78 Xt500, 81 IT250 & 2 Honda trail 70s. Nothing really radical, Id need Heli bars. A Honda Blackbird is about max for me to be honest, back is Fd up. Would be a once in a while rider actually, just love the look of Buells. Think Harley will honor the warranty ? (Message edited by mtkawboy on April 15, 2010) |

Well, I rode my 1125CR->R conversion home yesterday. It's a CR with the high bars, and an R fairing. Eric nailed it. Not only would this be a great bike to commute on or troll around town, it's a great bike to slap on some soft bags and take off across the country. The best motorcycles I've ever ridden have been Buells and Ducatis. |

My 08' 1125rt is a daily rider (32,000 in 2 years). For comfort I added Convertibars and a Double Bubble windshield. The Uly drop pegs are also nice for and extra 1" of leg room. Besides that, any of the 08', 09' or 10' will be GREAT! Time2RideHome Neil S. |

Mtkawboy, Harley said that they would honor the warranty on all Buells, though I have heard the wait on some parts is long. The 1125cr with clubman bars is the only bike I have every rode, but it feels very comfortable to me, though I am only 23... If you have back problems I could see it bothering you. With the high bars and a comfy aftermarket seat... probably not. I sat on a few with high bars and it makes a BIG difference. There are a few people who have said the bike is bad for commuting. I use mine for this every day and have had no problems in heavy traffic. The only real issue is that it can get kind of warm, but the bike itself stays at normal temps. If you know how to use the clutch effectively (which I am sure you do) it will be fine. The engine actually bumps up the rpms automatically when you let out the clutch without using the throttle, so in heavy traffic you can actually creep forward by just letting out the clutch a bit with one hand. It works well. |

Think Harley will honor the warranty ? I'd definately recommend sitting on an 1125R, a CR with Clubmans and a CR with High Bars on if you can find all 3. The R puts some "strain" (wrong word but bear with me) on your back... By that I mean it's normally more comfortable if you use your core muscle set to support some of your weight otherwise your wrists/shoulders can end up hurting if you do lots of "slow" riding (without the benefit of wind pressure on your chest), that includes the muscles in your lower back. On a CR with clubman's I'd imagine it's a similar situation as the riding position is very similar. With high bars on you're more upright so there's less strain AND you're more exposed to the airflow so that'll "help" too (up to a point). I commute on mine and it's fine, not the best commuter I've ever had - but probably the most fun |

I have a 2008 1125R and use it as an everyday rider. Have not had any problems with it that kept me off the road. The riding position took a bit to get used to coming from Harleys but now i find it really comfortable. |

Maybe I should find a nice old carbed Buell Thunderbolt instead, thanks for your help. NRHS could help me put some snot in it. Its the only Buell Ive ever ridden. I dont think an 1125 is going to get along with my implated morphine pain pump & 4 fused discs too well. Good shit all comes along when Im too old to ride it, you guys have fun for me. |

Mtkawboy- find a nice used Uly (X model). The long-travel suspension on Uly's is plush compared to the 1125's; it may be just what your back needs. |
