Anyone ever had a problem with the fuel light coming on? I was riding a few weeks ago and I figured out my fuel light doesn't work anymore. How did i figure that out? Well the 1 mile push to the gas station was enough to teach me. haha. Anyone know a possible solution? All of my Fuses are good, and its not just the bulb, because the odometer doesn't switch over to fuel either. I've had it way into reserve since then. Its hard to tell when your gonna run out when you have no way to gauge the amount of fuel left in the tank. Im just worried that next time I run out, it'll be more than a 1 mile push. Thanks for any help.

Without trying to sound like a smart ass, set your trip meter. I rarely used the fuel light as a gauge. Would be nice to have an actual fuel gauge though wouldn't it?

I fill up at about 100mi. Gives me some breathing room if I'm riding hard that day. I don't depend on the fuel light. I'm sorry, but I have no info on whats happening to your bike..............and a mile push? I bet your feelin' that today.

Fill'er up every 100 miles. As for your problem, shootin' from the hip it sounds like a sending unit problem or a ground thereabouts.

Hit the R button on the trip odo every fill-up and like several others have said, filler up at +/-100 mi.

Hell, I have to remember to change the display to ODO to see how many miles the bike has on it from time to time becuase I've always got it on Trip A.

Check the wire coming from the sending unit.
Probably came loose or rubbed through somewhere.

I would be looking at the wires that run from the fuel pump to the gage first, then check the bulb(it may need to work to make the ODO part flip), then if still not working it would be time to pull the fuel pump to look at the wires in there. They can wear through shorting it out.

If you go into the pump get two "O" rings, a filter, and a pickup screen filter. There are threads in the archives about how to.
