Hi everybody, I figured I would say hello here and start trying to make some contribution; I've been roaming the forum in all directions for a while now, before taking the dive ! I'm very pleased I did it ! This Uly is my first Buell. I only rode Hondas before, from the XL 650 Transalp (don't think you have that in the US, it's a kind of gentle Uly) to the ST1300 cruiser, including two XL 1000 Varadero (a bigger and thougher Transalp, but still smoother than the Uly). So far I've only made a few mods. Palmer brackets, both lights on when in high beam, clock/voltmeter/thermometer setup and Philips Motovision bulbs - more lights and an slightly orange color that attracts the attention of the cagers. This bike is so easy to work on ! Don't take me wrong, I'm lousy at DIY, but these mods are simple on the Uly. I've also purchased the Buell tank bag, mainly because I didn't want to farkle any kind of straps. Plus, the size is Okay. I'll be setting up some axles sliders from Twin Mortorbike. I wanted to use the Tyre Pressure Monitoring system from Chrome accessories http://www.bigbikeparts.com/Inventory/Navision/13- 315?catalogNo=1, but the valve tip is too big and would scratch the front brake calliper ! I thought about using some 90 degrees valve extensions, but these are relatively heavy, so I guess I'll need to have my wheels balanced - Disassembling the front wheel is outside of my competence field. Any idea on this topic will be greatly appreciated. Apart from this, let me tell you how pleased I am with the Uly. I was so impressed the first time I took it on a twisty road: the thing just corners so easy ! the grip seems to be unlimited - I've set the suspensions according to the User Manual. This is my first HD-engine experience, and boy ! that's sure different from the performing-but-dull 4 in line ! The carburator Honda Varadero was a bit like the Uly. But since they've turned to FI, it has killed the engine. This Buell is putting a smile on my face under the helmet, and it feels just great ! ... and my wife is happy thanks the the big saddle and triple-tail. Isn't that what they say, that man is happy when wife is ?

Welcome to Buell land! We never had the Transalp...wait...I think there was a window for a couple years with a 250 which are still desirable for smaller folks...but I always wished for one. Until the Uly came into my life. What is it about these things? Euly |

I have a tire pressure system that I have been meaning to install. Yes the sensor is too big and would hit the front caliper, but it comes with several replacement valve stems including a 90° angle one and another one that can mount inside the tire. http://www.doranmfg.com/motorcycle-tpms-features.h tm#360msystems |

Froggy...you think that with a 90 and sensor there would be balance issues? |

Salute from the US, I spent some time in the Cote d' Bourgogne. Beautiful country you have over there, welcome to the obsession. |

Well you would have to take the tire off the rim to install it, so you would need to re balance it regardless. Oh, and the prototype for the one I linked was developed on a XB |

Well Eulysses, We're talking of 13gr for the sensor with battery + 1gr for the anti-theft system + 16gr for the brass 90 degrees stem I've got. 30gr in total. According to some internet sources, 30gr starts to be a significant weight. Thanks for your answers though ! |

Mnrider, "Reve" should be spelled "Rêve", with this curious chinese hat accent, and it means "dream". Froggy, Stems on my Uly are already stainless steel, no changes required normally. Should I purchase some 3M adhesive weights tapes to balance for this weight ? Only problem is to find these retail... |

The change is so you can fit the sensor on without clearance issues. You can use regular lead weights and hot glue them on, that way they are easy to remove next tire change. |

Froggy, Yes, a shorter stem or a much longer one would certainly do. But I'd like to avoid going to my dealer only for that. ... well, maybe I should anyway. Thanks Dmmblaze. Can I say the €uros 3000 - about $2500 - discount was also an element of my decision ? Passion wasn't my only motivation |
