Where are the instructions on the forum how to change the motor oil? Now I know how the spouse feels when she looks at car engine. |

Should the motor be hot? I drained the tranny fluid for the first time but I was interrupted many times and by the time I really got to it, it was cold. Will that really make that big of a difference? |

Drain whist warm.Behind LH peg carrier you will find the oil drain tube. Drain with oil tank stopper out. I believe "full" is 2 quarts. A good rule of thumb is to measure how much you drain out and replace an equivalent amount of new oil. Measure new oils level with a warm motor. Good luck, Chris C |

This is taking a while. The only thing that went real easy was taking off the left foot peg. I had plenty of car tools to make that one job a snap. What is the other plugged tube next to the oil drain hose? I drained the primary. How do I check the level there when I refill? |

The other plugged hose is the PCV drain. Not much comes out, but drain it anyway. (the engine will refill it for you) The transmission takes one quart. One Quart. One Quart if you completely drain it (which isnt hard). If you put in One Quart, it should match the level that is shown in the repair manual. Some say its 2 ounces less or not exactly One quart. But I've changed the trans fluid both ways and it comes out the same. One Quart!!! The other way is to just drain the trans fluid (pref hot). Then refill it through the trans vent line thats hidden under the seat/frame. Takes awhile to fill, but it still takes less time than to R & R the y-frame! |

Eric, are you sure you mean one quart? You were pretty vague on that :-) |
