I also liked the personal part of the story near the end, about when he was young how his girl left him after his crash, and how they meet again later in life, and got married. Nice touch. |

Michelob = Bud with less water. Not any more. Mich is all malt and 17 IBU's. Bud is rice and malt, 11 IBU's. Michelob went back to the old recipe last year, much better. |

Speaking of St. Louis breweries here's a great video by the largest LOCALLY OWNED BREWERY that is a parody on AB's new SELECT 55 beer with 55 calories. Check out Schlafly's ULTIMATE 550! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lH4siY_Aa-4 |

It's funny because when the announcement was made about the demise of Buell, many of us accused the "bean counters" of killing it. Turns out that was right. It was Wandell. Again, putting a non-rider in command of HD is like making an atheist the pope. |

Tootal, Speaking of beer. A year or so ago I saw Tom Schlafly present a guest speaker lecture at Webster University. It was cool...they had free beer. Anyway, Mr Schafly said when they bought their building down town he could stand in the basement and look through all the holes all the way up through multiple floors and the roof to see clear sky. For those unfamiliar with the area, it was in a severe state of decay. Because of the decay parts of the movie "Escape From New York" were filmed there. |

Give me a Shiner Bock. Hear hear! If you're down near Shiner Texas check out the brewery - the tour is nice, plus free beer samples (and lots of merch to buy). They also seem to be upping their distribution game - small corner place near me stocks the Bock, Blonde, Hefeweizen and usually one other. |

Shiner makes a good brew, but as far as Texas beer goes, I'll take anything made by St. Arnold's (they're out of Houston). Seriously good beer... |

Boy did this thread take an interesting turn! Cheers! Hughlysses started it!! That was a good one Hooper!! Shiner makes a dopple bock called Shiner Frost. An excellent beer. As I travel I seek out as many breweries as I can. Just found one in Hays Kansas that is excellent. So many breweries, so little time! Now what were we talking about anyway? |

"So many breweries, so little time!" Better stay clear of Colorado. You'll never get out. A cross country Uly-Brewery tour does sound like a great idea though!

For those within riding distance of NYC I would recommend Brooklyn Brewery. I think they're one of the best breweries in the US, world class without a doubt. Unfortunately I live in AZ now and cannot get Brooklyn anywhere west of the Mississippi. |

I did Colorado a few years ago. Started in Colorado Springs to Canyon City to Salida to Ouray to Lake City over the jeep trail but no brewery there. On to Durango, Cortez, Teluride, Silverton, Leadville, Steamboat Springs and Ft. Collins. I could not find the brewery in Ouray and the one in Cortez didn't open till 3:00 and it was 11:00 when I got there so I went on to Teluride. Some of the standouts were in Canyon City, Carvers in Durango, Coopersmith's in Ft. Collins. Great chili beer there! Colorado is great for rides and beer! |

I have always checked out local brewpubs/brewries on all my bike trips. It`s a beautiful thing. Brooklyn Brewery is really awesome. Their Black Chocolate Stout is one of my top 10, and that is the alcohol %,10! It packs a wallop! +1 on Colorado, great riding and beer. |

Dude, I hope you aren't mixing those Colorado rides and beer. Especially between Ouray and Silverton! |

Shiner Bock? Really? I had one on tap recently and was quite unimpressed. Could be my love for IPAs. |

Tootal, That was some great country you rode through. I did almost the same rout last summer - minus the off-road piece. And I agree with you about Coopersmith's Brewpub in Ft. Collins. It's one of my all-time favorites. They make great German style ales & lagers there - almost as good as in the Mother Land. |

When I beer tour I reach my destination, find a room close to the establishment of which I'm to partake and if close enough I'll walk there. If riding I limit my beers to as many wheels under my ass. Let's see, front wheel, rear wheel, left flywheel, right flywheel... |
