Hey guys! I've been lurking for a while and thought I'd post up a member introduction. I'm from Alabama and have been a proud owner of 3 Buells. First was an s2, loved it and sold it when I started school again. The second was an XB9, which sadly got totaled in an accident. With the insurance, I bought my third, and by far my favorite, a 98 S1W. It has gotten a complete overhaul as it was bought from a guy who hocked it in a pawn shop. It sat outside for a while. I've been working on her since January, and yesterday was my first ride since completion, and I put 300 miles on her. Still have to relocate the breather for the puke tank under the plastics, and stripe the rear wheel (decided I liked it after doing the front for comparison), but she's a hoot and I'll be keeping this gal for a while! Anyway, thanks for the help you guys never knew you were giving me over the months that I've been here!

She looks great man! Good save! How about a pic of the other side? Is that the catch can on the left just below the tail? |

Nice bike! The PO put a lot of thought into the color scheme it seems, because it looks great! |

The PO didn't paint it, I did. The old pearl white paint was trashed, so I did the spray job on her. I replaced the Manta tank with a smaller 96 tank. here's the other side: New tires, rocker box gaskets, plugs, HID lighting, turn signals, tail light, carbon parts....yeah I went a little crazy, but I love the result. And yeah the catch can is a little large, I need to find/fabricate a smaller one. This one I think is from a car, a buddy gave it to me for free, so it's better than the oil spatter that came with the bike where the PO just had them hanging under the tail!!! Thanks for the compliments guys. |

Very nice. You have a solo seat. Pull the passenger pegs and hang your breather filter on the left peg mount like I did. No catch can on mine (and mine's white/white/white) - and no puke on the wheel, tire, frame, or anything.
Great looking bike! How'd you do the wheel stripe, is it just one of those tape kits? Been thinking about doing that... |

Cool idea Ratbuell. That looks really good man! And yep, it's just a tape kit. Use soapy water to install and it's really easy. I tried it dry and it's impossible to get strait. Good info fellas. |

Nice touch to paint the center of the Prolite disc! |

Thanks guys! Yeah, I wanted to give her a nod to the vintage roots with the paint scheme, so when I laid it down, and the prolite was blue, I had to make it all match, so I got the rotor basket powdered. Turned out great! Thank you guys for the compliments. Next up is a Penske rear shock. |

Also, if anybody knows where to get a front frame brace for her, lemme know. Those things are a beast to find. Like a holy grail apparently! |

Nice looking bike. What kind of bar do you have? Looks taller than the stock. |

for the frame brace, get in touch with Banke, they can build one in special order for $365, basically what the used ones sold for. I asked and that was the price they gave me. I decided not to buy it, too expensive considered how not that bad I want it! LOL but if you really want one, you can have it for that money... |

Hey guys thanks for the input! If I get one, it might as well be a new one since I know that I've seen them go for over $300 pretty regularly. Kalali, they are X1 bars. They actually seem lower to me, but who knows. The stock ones were tweaked with a matching broken turn signal on that side, so it was no doubt dropped at some point. It's got an S2 shifter boomerang for the same reason. I'm considering a set of clip ons from Al....Still have to install some mirrors. Using a cheapo bar end for now, but it's just not right for this particular bar. Any suggestions? The mickey mouse ears are NOT going back on! |

Oh yeah, she's a keeper...if anyone knows how true this statement is, it's you guys...there's NOTHING like riding a tuber. Here's one of my other rides. Just finished her.

American Sport Bike sells Aprilia Tuono mirrors that look pretty good on the tube framed bikes. Otherwise there are a handfull of bar end mirrors that work well too from Napolean to Rizoma, I'm sure others will chime in. I also dig the paint. Tires look pretty low, I hope that was a before pic. Welcome. Ride safe brother. |

Welcome to the site. Sweet ride! IMO, Best of the Tubers. But then again I may be biased as I happen to have a 98 S1W!! |

It's funny you mention that, I actually have a set of aprilia mirrors on the way! Right now I'm just running a small oval drag specialties mirror on there so I can see. I also had to take the bike back and get some seat sealer put on the rim, I had a leak down on the front tire. Good eye! Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I'm lovin my tuber! |

Great looking S1! I've never seen the idle adjuster routed that way before, I just let mine hand down behind the carb, kind of hidden from sight but easy to find by touch. Don't try it barehanded, though... I like that cafe racer, too--is that an XS650 motor? rt |
