so my dad has a 89 TransAlp that has 31k on it and is looking to trade it for a uly that runs good! If you know what a T/A is then props to you! its a pretty rare bike that was only offered in america for 2 years, and is a bike thats ahead of its time. its basically the best adventure bike honda has ever made, if you want to learn more about them go ahead and google 89 transalp its a really cool bike! But anyway if your interested in a trade please let me know via PM, we are located in central IL. (my dad also may take a TT, and he also loves the bmw line so he'd probably trade for one of those as well, or perhaps a different type of adventure bike or something like a KTM Duke....) btw guys, i was just reading through my post, a good x1 would be a good trade canidate as well! (now that i think about it, i have a bunch of different bikes listed up there, if you have anything let me know, the most i can do is say no ha ha) | ||

By plus cash, they would mean trade the Honda plus some cash for the Uly. I can't find any info on the value of that Honda due to its age, but I doubt it worth as much as a Uly. | ||

It's not, they're rare but it's worth around 3g's. I've seen them go higher or lower. So my point is, the value of your TA is not anywhere close to the value of the ULY. | ||

yea i kinda realized that asking to trade for a Uly was a far streatch, but you never know.... My dad doesnt really have money to offer up along with the bike, so i'm guessing that a Uly is out of the picture unless somebody really wants the T/A. times are hard for everybody, and my dad said that he just cant afford to pay money plus the bike right now besides the Uly and X1 goes though, he'd prolly trade for a number of different bikes, he likes most adventure bikes (hence the T/A) anything from the bmw line (even non adventure would probably be good) he likes Ktm's duke and similar super moto bikes so basically if you have anything that you think might intrest my dad, let me know, i'll give you his cell number if your serious. the T/A was the bike that i learned to ride on (after the MFS course)i've put about 15k on it myself, and it currently has 31k on it. it runs like a champ, and since my dad got it two years ago from a guy in my boy scout troop (who was the original owner) my dad has put a new chain on it, new front brakes, it has two new CDI units to it (transalps tend to go through those due to them being directly under your butt, so you are basically sitting on them with the seat between you and them). the front tire is good, and i'll replace the rear before we trade it. so if you've got anything like the bikes listed above, or like i said an x1 or a tuber maybe, my dads not fimilair with all tubers so you never know these are some crappy cell phone pics of the bike that i put up on photobucket, i can take better ones if you guys really want me to http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj219/IMAN501/1262156714.jpg http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj219/IMAN501/1262156712.jpg http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj219/IMAN501/1262156717.jpg http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj219/IMAN501/1262156717-1.jpg http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj219/IMAN501/1262156719.jpg http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj219/IMAN501/1262156726.jpg (Message edited by iman501 on January 10, 2010) | ||

I'm sure you'd find a trader over there.... i did, but i think i pissed some people off over there on adv rider....it was basically the first time i've ever posted there, and i started off with trying to sell the bike. and according to their forum rules you "have" to post a price with your listing, well i basically said my dads just looking for a trade, and a bunch of people gave me crap for not giving them a price, and some guys accused me of trying to scam them and all this other ignorant stuff. so i'm not to sure i'll have any luck there, my dad did talk to two guys that saw it on adv.com, but one guy was kind of pointless to talk to, he had nothing to trade, and offered like $1200 for it, and then another guy had a bmw dakar, but after talking to my dad decided that he wanted to keep his beamer, and then offered my dad like 2000 sight unseen for the bike, and said he'd drive up that weekend to pick it up, but my dad said no to that as well. and it is a pretty exotic bike that you dont really see very often, they are really fun to ride! or at least i think so, i was pretty suprised at how well you could throw it around in corners, and it runs like a champ! | ||

bump just got new oil and filter for it. i'll change it this week sometime, and a new rear tire was ordered, and will be put on within the next week or so as well. i'm going to put a new battery in it, along with rear brakes. |
