I need a quick fix for a dent in my frame !! I'm planning a trip to Arkansas next weekend and with as much attention that the XB draws, I'm embarrassed to have this big ol dent on the side. I emailed Matt at Trojan, but It's take 10 days plus ship time to get the carbon fiber sliders, so I gotta find something I can cover this up with. Help !! |

10 days is kinda close unless you've got the skills to do it yourself. Others have had success with auto body fillers and touch up paint. That's about the only way. How big's the dent? Hell, if anyone asks, it's got some character now! Blame it on your dog or something. Yea... my dog knocked it over in the driveway! To find some Trojan Horse CF covers in the states I'd call AL at American Sport Bike. I dunno if he deals w/Trojan stuff, but I'd bet he can help you out. JS |

Slap some stickers or decals over the dent and tell people that those are your sponsors! |

A big band aid, maybe a little fake blood oozing too. Or a series of little japanese and italian flags, like WW2 planes. AL |

I like what AL said. I'd get a bunch of small Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki stickers and put them over the dent. When asked, tell em its the bikes you smoked in the twisties |

You could try one of those suction cup dent pullers. You can get them at "Autozone" or PepBoys. If the metal isn't creased it will probably pull right out. Good Luck! JR |

Umm...these frames aren't exactly car sheet metal. I'm assuming it's dented at the widest point, and pulling that back out would weaken the metal so much more than it already is that I'd seriously be concerned just riding it around - not to mention the fact that that little thing is most likely physically incapable of exerting the force necessary to pull it back out. |

This has been pointed out before but... The outer wall of the frame (the part that gets dented) has no structural value. It is only there to keep the gas in the frame. I do not believe attempting to pull a dent will weaken the metal to the point that it will no longer hold gas. But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong. The 400 pound gorilla. |

Thanks for the help, but I just filled the dent with body filler (bondo) and wet sanded it smooth. A small amount of glazing putty to fill the pin holes and then shot it with Duplicolor Aluminum DH1606 rattle can paint. It's not an exact match, but amazingly close. I then further masked it using a Progrip carbon fiber look tank protector that I trimmed to fit. I use the rest of the protector to cover up the scratches on the swing arm. Looks kinda tribal. The fix is not perfect but it'l sure do until the frame sliders show up. |
