Okay. I searched via the thread tool and Google. Almost all of the results involved the 1125s, so I thought I'd ask here. Bike is a 2007 XBSs, 889 miles, dino oil, RSS installed. I went for about 150 miles today. The temperature when I finished was in the low 80s. Filled up 11 miles from home, and those miles were highway. While I was checking the oil after I got home, I could hear a whooshing sound from pressure being vented out the fuel overflow tube. I opened the fuel cap and there was some release of pressure. No fuel came out. What surprised me was the sight of the fuel bubbling or "boiling" down in the tank. The tank was warm but not hot to the touch. The cooling fan had worked normally during the ride. I've since read that fuel volatility/boiling point can be much lower than what we'd expect for older gasoline formulations or water. It was still a surprise. So, is this normal, or what? |
