Last night I noticed my RPM going from about 1400-1700 at idle, which I thought was strange. I also noticed a new noise from the engine, and finally my IC and headlight were flickering. I'm not sure if the new engine noise is related at all but I'm guessing the RPM variation has something to due to the lights flickering. I assume this has to do with the charging system bulletin/harness problem so I made an appoint with the local dealer. I didn't expect to have any problems yet, I had 69 miles on the bike when I got home and noticed the flickering at 62 miles. Do you think my stator is bad too? |

That flickering (assuming it's not extreme) doesn't indicate the stator is bad. My '09R has flickered lightly since it was new, still does at 1,085 miles. It's going in today for its charging subharness install, so I'll be looking to see if it still does it when it comes home. Enjoy your bike!! Mike |

My stator went at just over 4000. There should still be some life left n yours. My lights always flickered slightly. With the new harness it stopped. |

I had around 500 miles on mine. The dash would go out, the battery light would come on. They replaced the wiring and the stator....When the dealer calls HD/ Buell parts, they were surprised it did not burn out my instrument panel. apparently that happens After the 600 mile check up I went out the other day to put some miles on the bike. I was trying to get out of the phoenix metro area, and the check engine light comes on......I stopped for a while to check it out...I started it again to take to the dealer and the light went off, never to come on again? |

I would check your battery connections and be sure the battery is at full charge before you ride it too much. Mine has never flickered. I have 3600 miles on my 09 and I do not have the updated harness yet. |

I second Rpm's post. Had some same issues with my XB. clean the cables and put a washer on the bolt so they will tighten down good. |

I will check the battery cable tightness but I know there is no corrosion. |

New bike and the connectors are tight. Even with the new wiring and the new stator, the tail light still seems to not glow steady. Maybe it is just the vibration making the tail light fluctuate. |

Mine started to flicker badly last night when I had high beams .. I rode this morning and the message "Voltage System" was on my dash!! Message went after a couple of miles... and then the battery light was on... and the engine light also. I rode home, shut the bike off and it didn't start after that. The dealer called me 2 days ago telling me that they have the harness waiting for me... |
