While trying to find Peter Eagan's original road report in Cycle World, and did thanks to the web (April 2006 issue), I also stumbled across CW's first full Uly road test (Sept 2005 issue). With a friend picking up a firesale priced 2009 XB1200X model this spring, I'd like to find some in-depth articles on this 47mm usd forked, long suspension travel, X model Uly. But most all reports I've found so far, are focusing (understandably) on the new to 08, XT model only... Whose got a good memory, or access to their mc magazine library, that can point me in the right direction to some full reports on the 2008 and up, big forked X model Ulysses ? And with the last generation motor being introduced in 2008, which magazine reports of any and all XB models, featured the most in-depth reviews on the technical changes to the motor ? Roadacing World perhaps ?... Thanks all ! 996DL |

the model is called XB12X. search the internet for xb12x review. I found many. Or ask anybody here to review any part of the xb12x from any year. I am sure you will get positive reviews here Hope this helps. Here is one that helped sway me into buying one. By the looks of the tires in the pictures, this is a test ride of an 06. the only major change that would affect a test ride was in 2008: the forks got fatter and the turning radius got tighter. http://www.pashnit.com/bikes/BuellUlysses.htm (Message edited by towpro on April 07, 2010) |

Thanks Towpro on correcting the designation of XB12X, helps with web searchs. However it's still a rather sparse selection, in regards to print media reporting. I'm all ears for other suggestions on detailed reports... I'm an old coot and rather well versed in the evolution of Buells, but at times I'd like to view more detailed reports/postings etc. Parts diagrams detailing the differences between the 03-07 motors and the 08-10 series would be interesting, to say the least. Yadda, yadda... 996DL |

Rider Magazine did one, I think last year??? Or maybe it was two years ago now. I think I kept that issue, I'll see if I can find the date of it for you. Wayne -- Found it online! http://www.ridermagazine.com/output.cfm?id=1693405 (Message edited by wbrisett on April 07, 2010) |

Thanks folks, while the majority of the tests featuring the 08 models are dealing with the newly introduced XT model, rather than the uprgraded X, it was good to see dyno reports of the new motor, in the Rider article. 996DL |

The rider magazine article whetted my appetite for one. Someone let me ride one for a few minutes, don't even know his name, asked about it and he said "why don't you just take it for a ride?". Ten miles later I had to have an XT. Seven months later I bought. I make the same offer to anyone on a decent bike and wearing gear (no flip flop people). Been taken up three times, one bought a month later. |
