Gents, I finally purchase my first street bike, 07 xb9sx white lightning. So anyway I removed the seat tonight to get to the tool pack to put on the license plate, and for some moronic reason I cannot get the seat to latch back down..I messed with it for 2 hrs, I feel like a moron. I've done topends on my dirtbikes, yet I can't get a seat back on my buell. So I read the manuel, the latch works, I just can't get the seat far enough forward (i guess) to latch down. Has anyone ever had an issue with getting the seat to latch back down....this is pretty embarassing to say the least...any advice for my pathetic self would be appreciated. |

Force the middle down with one hand while shoving the seat forward with the other. |

Yup. It can be confounding at first. But after you get it, it will become easy. 1) Observe the "tongue" under the seat. 2) Observe the slot in the frame area, below where the seat goes 3) Your objective is to push the middle of the seat downward so as to insert the tongue into the slot -- as you push the seat toward the front of the bike. 4) BUT be sure the "hooks" attached to the underside of the seat toward the rear of it are far enough back to engage the posts attached to the frame BEFORE you start to push the seat forward. Look for the tongue and slot; look for the hooks and posts farther toward the rear; think about it, and you will see. Practice it a few times and you are fine. |

Thanks for the info guys, I will keep trying. I get how it's suppose to connect, I just can't believe I have to ram it in so hard to get the back to lock, tough to get a grip on the seat .. pretty thin in the back. I have everything where it should be except the darn back latch, guess I should of tried this before the private seller left it with me. You guys local? I'm in PA - Kennett Square area. Can't wait to get out on this bike, lookin forward to ripping on the back roads. |
