I was wondering what is the difference between a XB12SCG sold in CA vs. other states. I know it has to do with emissions but what exactly is the difference and how does it affect the performance, ect. How can a CA bike be made into a bike for other states? How much would it cost to change over. I live in NV and I'm am looking at a 2009 bike for sale that was originally sold in CA but is now in NV. I thought I read somewhere they never run right if you change them from a CA bike. It is worth the effort to change it over as I really don't plan on racing the bike or anything? Is the bike worth less with th CA emissions. How much would you offer for a CA 2009 XB12scg with under a hundred miles and 5 months off the warranty? |

Only difference is the carbon canister and the vent lines running to/from it. The canister is the large cylinder hiding right behind the air scoop in this pic.
This canister does not affect performance in any way. If you desire, the can is easy to remove, you just will need a new fuel tank vent line and a cap to plug the port on the throttle body. This does not affect the bikes value in any way. |
