Well, it's in the 50s this morning, so I wasn't surprised that the cooling fan on my '06 Ss wasn't running when I got to work. But then I turned it off and....... silence. THAT'S not right, I just finished a 45 minute commute. Gotta' see what it's going to do this afternoon when things warm up, and maybe run the ECMSpy fan test when I get home. Man, I hope this fan hasn't died too! That would make 2 bad ones in 4 years!

My fan didn't come on this morning when I shut the bike off.
It rarely does if it's a bit cool in the morning.

Huh. Mine almost ALWAYS comes on when I shut it off, though it may only run for 10 seconds or so. The only time it doesn't is when I've fired it up and turned it back off without letting the engine warm to normal operating temperature. That would be nice though if there wasn't a big problem. I guess I'm kinda' paranoid about it because this fan DOES have a noisy bearing that I'm just waiting to seize up. The fan IS going out, just a matter of how long it's going to take.

Well lets just hope it's a non-issue.

I think it has to do with mileage, seems the more miles, the less the fan runs.

Good luck!

I done my 25 mile 30 minute commute on mine, on a cool morning, often the fan doesn't come on when I shut down. In the afternoon when it's warmer the fan always comes on when I shut down.

Hmmm... I put the large RSS on my '09 XB12 a couple weeks ago. I've ridden it a couple times since - neither time did the fan come on even when I turned the key off. Admittedly, it wasn't real warm out (40ish) but it had ALWAYS come on after turning the key off before the new scoop. Makes me a little nervous...

Since putting on the RSS and switching to syn oil my fan has never come on after shutting down...even with my 40 minute commute in mid-70 temps. Curious to see how it does when it's 120 out...

Good news! Cooling fan came on when I shut it down yesterday afternoon. Guess it was colder that morning that I thought!
