Is there any way to lower the ride height of an 09 XT by an inch or two without screwing up the handling\chassis dynamics? I'm only about 5'8" tall with a 30 inch inseam... so I find that the XT is just a wee bit too tall for me. I don't plan of offroading this bike at all so I'm not worried about having tons of suspension travel or clearance for rocks and that kind of stuff. Any advices? My seat is the stock seat but I've been told that the 09 XT already had the "cut down" seat straight from the factory--- whereas earlier Ulysses had tall seats from the factory and the short seat avail as an option. thanks, MSL |

You got three options - buy the accessory low seat (discontinued, hard to find) and it will lower your seat height by a centimeter. You can also swap out the suspension (forks, rear shock, kickstand) off another Buell to low your height. The stock XT ground clearance is 5.9", and swapping in the 2008-2010 XB12SS will drop you to 5.5", and the 2006-2007 XB12SS will get you down to 4.6". Third option - Harden the **** up. There are many people shorter than you, including me, who ride the even taller XB12X without issue. |

What kind of boots are you wearing? I'm 5'8" with a 30 inch inseam as well, and I have no problems. I'm not sure how long you've been riding it, but I suspect that if you give it a bit more time, you might get used to it. |

5' 9" w/30" inseam. No problems and I am 65 years old. Thick soled boots are a good option, but I wear Oxtars that have a fairly thin sole as opposed to lugs. If it's a real issue for you, it may be possible to have the front part of the seat made narrower, which will give you a more direct line to the ground. |

Thank-you everyone. I am going to take Froggy's third option. I'm really stoked about having the ULY and I'm looking forward to doing some roadwork in the Empire state this coming summer. |

Check out this Kit from Team Metisse in Germany http://www.metisse.de/ It lowered my Uly by a perfect 20mm. Your the guy Froggy, to tell a 65 year old to toughen up. |

I'd love to have a 30" inseam, I'm 5'-5" with a 28" inseam. I just tripod when I have to stop. Anybody sell a leg extension kit, cause I don't want to change my bike! LOL |
