I got my Cylone humming and took about an hours ride yesterday thru the mountains. The former owner put Clubman bars on and my short arms were fully extended to reach them. It has a corbin seat and I was slid back to take advantage of the rise on the seat. All my weight was on the bars and my back was stretched. I came home with a sore back and wrists after . Any ideas on bars for a little more comfort ? Or am I just not Buell material at 58?

You sound like me a little out of shape but not over the hill yet

Change the bars to stock or use S3T bars for an additional 1-1/2" rise over stock.

Bob, I'd love to see a picture of you M2 with the Clubman's and the seat together. How about mounting the Clubman's in reverse?

Pictures please!

I have the superbike bars on my m2 which was much better on my wrist than the crossroads bars that were on my bike when I got it. But the are still lower than the stock bars.

Bob,

If you've got those bars in the down position they are probably miserable to ride with, try flipping them, they're reasonable comfortable that way. Stock bars cost too much from the dealer, I suggest you try and find some here or online, or at least order them from a sponsor if you're gonna spend the money.

Don,

Who is the maker on those superbike bars? I'm considering pulling my crossroads off so my brother can make another base plate for me. Plus the hand guards look f-ugly due to the downward angle on the 7 degree bar.

Agree on the bars. Your profile says you got a 97 M2, so I guess that you have the narrow tail with a corbin? Should you have the later wide tail, the corresponding corbin is indeed shaped for tall people. I am 6'4 and sit VERY comfortably on the 99-02 M2/Corbin combo with standard bars. +1 on the pic :-)

I would suggest the wide tail with the stock seat. I have the corbin and the stock seat and I find the stock seat to allow me to sit further forward and straight up then the Corbin does. Also you can bolt the S3T bars onand that will stand you up alot more then the Clubmans you have. I found this to be a little to straight up for me at high speeds (65 mph+) as it put a lot of wind right onto my chest. But I am 6'3".

I am 5'11 and have short arms . I want my arms to be slightly bent and be able to sit on the saddle part of my seat. I am not sure this will be possible unless I get some funky bars. I need to move back on the seat about 3". So any ideas on rise pullback etc ? I have been sitting on the bike trying to get and idea of what I need and am drawing a blank. Any short armed people out there with similar problems? Thanks BTW I LOVE THIS BIKE!

Some bar risers also set the bars closer to the rider. Maybe they could be used along with some bars with a bit more pullback to achieve the fit you are looking for.

Thanks Don, that would get you sitting more upright wouldn't it Dulcimerbob?

Brin, that top triple with the "clip-on's" is pretty cool, would be nice to have but I'll guess from the pics it would drop you another two inches from the Crossroads position, not likely to be comfortable for very many...

The stock M2 bars would be better than clubmans, and the easiest/cheapest to find.
Blast bars are maybe 1.5" taller, and 1.5" narrower. S3T bars are about 1.5", and same width.
1" risers from Prec. Eng. would add an inch taller to any of these. Those black Superbike bend bars look posterior-kicking, but would likely not go back far enough, nor high enough. There is a set of Flanders bars made especially for Buell that is even bit taller and more pullback that the S3T, but they cost like $100, at least they come in either black or chrome.

Then there's 'every other 7/8ths bar out there', more to choose from than you can shake a stick at. Plus the Pro-Tapers, and aluminum bars, and the like.

Found some today at a boneyard off an old ATV . I think they'll do the job and I got them for free . Can't beat that. While I'm at it I wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with heavy bar end weights helping vibration . Thanks for all the help.

I am 5'10" Bob and I have the stock seat on my bike. I am currently running stock bars and I literally dont have to put any weight on the bars unless I want to.Here is a pic of me on the bike with one hand on the bars to give you an Idea of the stock seating position of an M2, if you are our height.

stock seat works VERY well, as it places you farther forward.

my thoughts are...

1) go to a 99+ tail and seat, they are much wider and far more comfortable

2) find a used set of stock bars for cheap, the position is very comfy, ive done 600+ mile days on that setup.
