TechSpec is good stuff! An added bonus of the Snake Skin product is that because of its thickness, it acts like a heat barrier on the frame. I recommend it highly.
Not a great picture for detail, but it shows the color of the gripster. It's a very nice match with the frame color on the CR, and from a functional standpoint, they are worth every penny
I've got the fusion style Gripster pads on my CBR600F2. I'm gonna get a set for my 1125R as well, but I want just the pads for the frame. American Sport Bike lists a "frame only" kit with the snake style for $20 less than the kit that includes the airbox cover pads as well. But the fusion style is only listed with the frame and airbox pads. I wouldn't mind saving a few bucks on the fusion kit if I could leave off the airbox pads.
Has anyone tried taking these off the bike? I know it says "Releasable/Reusable adhesive", but does it leave any residue behind? And can you actually put them back on without using another kind of adhesive? The description makes it sound like you can.
According to the instructions, there's a technique to getting them off the bike without leaving the adhesive behind. But... I honestly don't see a reason why you would want to take them off and reuse them.
The frame pads are NOT reusable. Due to the temperature the frame gets, the same reusable adhesive could not be used. I LOVE my Tech Spec Snake Skins. They match the frame very nicely. I don't have the air box pads on yet...still debating. I like the look without, but the performance with is great. ac
I really don't care if I have to buy another set, I was just worried about it leaving some kind of gooey mess behind once I took them off. Hoping the heat from the frame doesn't permanently adhere them to the frame.
I am one of the guys that likes to be able to return things to stock if I don't like a mod
Ok Guys, First Off, American Sport Bike is Great to work with.
Ordered the 25th, they arrived and I installed on the 26th.
Thought I would just follow through and post some pics for future reference so if anyone else was curious as to how they match the frame and how they look close up, we have it archived and posted.
I bought my first set of Techspecs last year for my Speed Triple. I was looking for a grip that wouldn't tear up my work pants since the powers that be said we couldn't wear jeans anymore. I'm a huge fan. These have been on for over a year and haven't faded in the CO sun.
A set of the snake skins was the first after market farkly that I've put on my 25R. I haven't taken a picture yet but it looks just like the above. I did use the tank protector from my Triple's kit because I already had a tank protector on that bike and my Techspecs didn't come with one.
Anyways, highly recommended.
**Edit** These just went on last weekend, but since it's been snowing and crappy outside ever since, I haven't gotten any decent pics. I ran out to the garage and grabbed this.
