Okay so I am in the process of removing my carb to jet and shim. Can someone explain how I disconnect the wires to remove the carb? I have the fuel line, throttle cables off and the black connector with torx bits I just removed the screws, but there is a white looking PVC connector that I can't figure out. Are there any other tricks? |

Welcome! Only unplug the wiring from the wiring harness (its one simple plug in connector). Unscrewing any of the wired connectors on the carb is going to land you in a world of trouble. |

you don't have to remove the carb to jet and shim it. remove the air box and you can access the bowl. The stubby philips for the bowl and tiny flat blade for the jets, and a combo wrench to hold the jet holder. Remove the tank for access to the needle. |

Excellent tips! Removed the tank and voila. I unplugged the sensors and reattched the TPS thankfully there was already a mark to set it back to factory. As far as shimming goes I have two #6 brass washers that are .05 but they are sloppy on the needle. The head won't go through, but should I try and find something with a little tighter tolerance? Should I be using some loctite when I reassemble? (Message edited by crankinaway on March 25, 2010) (Message edited by crankinaway on March 25, 2010) |

If the needle lines up square even with the washers all the way to one side - then they are fine, if the needle tilts into the hole when all the way to one side, then they are no good. EZ |
