I am very interested in making it a track bike, where do you guys get parts so cheap? I looked at the harley dealer for parts, I haven't seen a lot of parts on ebay for buells. I looked at the bike, and I think to get it track ready would be easy, you guys are right. I figured all I would need to change is the speedometer, which is about $250 @ harley, anybody know where to get one for less then that? Another thing I am worried about is the scrape on the side of the engine, in the fifth picture down from the top, do you guys think that would be a problem? also, do you guys know how to check if the frame and forks are straight? I took it to the harley dealer, and they said the frame was ok, but before I go flying around the track I want to be sure its straight. |

Fvck ya track bike. I'm glad you said that. Screw buying a new speedo, you don't need it I don't think. If it's integral to the ECM then I guess you have to have one. But if you don't.... it. No use for MPH's...just get a tach for it. Get some Xb12 frame sliders, use a laser to line the forks to see if they're bent and hit the track with it. These things are AWESOME on the track. The rash you have on the case is fine...doesn't look like it's leaking any oil. Pick up some fork and swinger sliders from someone too. I got mine from darkhorse. Good fit and finish for the ecosliders. TRACKBIKE FTW!!! |

Another vote for track bike. Your brother should have saved those kinds of antics for the track anyway. No insurance and no speed limits, but definitely get some sliders and stuff for the next time you toss it. |

Thanks for the advice, my brother likes to drive aggressive to say the least. Computrack looks very precise, I will definitely look into them, the corona location is only a half hour from where I live. Have you used them before? I am still looking for a place to get a cheap speedometer, anybody know of a good place? |

take a little time, check around for good deals on parts and save the new parts for last after you haven't found them used. i put a salvaged 1125r on the track at a trackday with no speedo cluster or front fairing due to them not coming with the bike. it is now my full up racebike 2 years later. trackday or street riding doesn't require unscratched plastic. have you taken it down the street at a slow pace since the wreck? the broken master cylinder looks like the only thing that REQUIRES replacement. it looks like in the pics that the headlight and support are still functional and secure? the stock instrument cluster was cheaper than the aftermarket clusters by half. YMMV tim |

Thanks for the advice, We have decided to keep the bike and make it a track bike. I took the bike apart today, the airbox is all crunched up, but other then that, the internals look great. I just ordered a new airbox. Buell parts are expensive, it was $170 for the airbox, and a gas tank vent. I saw the emissions solenoid in the bike, I am also going to remove that while I'm fixing it up. Do you guys think I need to replace the whole master cylinder, I was just going to replace the cap. Also, to anyone that has been to the track, I noticed that two wires got pulled off the front brake, I would imagine that they are the wires that hook up the brake light, I am wondering if I need to hook them back up, do I have to have working brake lights at the track? |

You don't want any working lights at the track. The disconnected wires saved you a tiny amount of work. |

Looking at the pics, the Master Cylinders look fine, I wouldn't bother with fixing them if they still hold fluids with no leaks. Hell a black Sharpie could make it good as new. Some people switch to aftermarket MC's to improve braking feeling, so that would be the route I would go should it need replacement. |

Where do you guys buy aftermarket parts for buells? In fact, where do you guys buy oem parts for buells, I have a feeling that my harley dealer is ripping me off on buell parts. |

Try Al at www.americansportbike.com. They might have some stuff for you. He's an aftermarket guru. Ask him if he's got access to OEM parts. Good luck. (Message edited by freezerburn840 on March 25, 2010) |
