So what you're trying to say is that we should all pee on our header wrap before putting it on! Hahaha kidding.

I'm gunna try to wrap my headers up in a week or so. So I'll post some pics up and tell ya all how I did it. Right now I'm putting 1125CR clubman bars on my lightning. Once I'm done with that and a few other lil things I'll get right on it.

Oh and if any if you live close to Iowa we are tuning our bikes in Des Moines. PM me if you're interested.

Hogs;

I didn't realize that they were SS.

Awesome, warp away then. I'll have to find it but there is supporting data on how header wrap improves performance.

+2 on wearing rubber gloves and a long sleeve shirt, I was itchy for weeks.

Fatboy grim;

Take your time wraping them, make sure they are nice and tight and have a good wraping pattern to them. You may have to cut down the wrap a bit so you aren't trying to pull 10 feet of wrap around and around the header, but be careful not to cut them too short.

If you wet the black header wrap, it'll bleach out and look greyish. I like the high temp paint idea, should have thought of that myself.

Keeping the heat inside the header lowers the ambient temperature around the motor which is beneficial for an air-cooled unit. The power difference is too small to notice, though, particularly since the air charge on the Buell is largely unaffected by the engine heat at speed. Even on a dyno the increase is small enough to be attributed to statistical variance. Lower operating temperatures and less heat on your legs are the primary benefits. Both good things!

Not to mention, keeping the heat inside the header helps speed up the gases as they flow through, helping scavenging.

Yeah, I'm taking my headers off and I'll take my time and do it right.

Not gunna lie.... Sometimes on those cold chilly nights the heat off the headers is kinda nice. But the the only reason I'm wrapping my headers is cuase I have a small ding on them. And it looks kinda cool.
