Last night I gasses up my 08' Uly 20km after the fuel light came on. Got home parked the bike in the garage and did some other stuff for some 15-20mis. I then return to the garage (fan had stopped) and notice that I have a gas puddle forming under the bike?? I trace it back to a little tube strapped under the silver frame. also it wasn't a little drip-drip, it would pee out a few ml then stop for a min then pee out another spurt, then stop again. Any ideas? should I be worried? Perhaps I overfilled?? airpressure in the tank?? thx, MMcC | ||

That is the vent/overflow tube. Due to heat buildup after shutdown coupled with leaning the bike over on the kickstand, it'll do that. I make a habbit of either not filling the tank quite so high or riding it a bit more before I park it inside my garage. In short- "they all do that". | ||

You over filled it probably. Having some drip out is normal. What happens is gas vapor escapes out the vent tube, then after it cools off it condenses and drips out. From the sound of it, you experienced fuel expansion. | ||

Avoid getting down on all fours to investigate the issue while smoking.  | ||

Don't ever fill past the lower/inner ring in the filler neck. I only go to the ring if I'm away from home, that way I know I'll burn some off on the way home before I park it. | ||

...and don't transport your bike with a full tank on any military cargo aircraft. At altitude, the fuel will expand and overflow onto the floor of the aircraft and subsequently run up and down the roller tracks creating a nausiating, high-inducing vapor when the aux heater stirs the fumes up. This effect is worsened by large vehicles. |
