Question for the tech heads, A mate from me has a german bike , as he lives very close to the border from germany And the bikes are very match cheaper over there, and he had a really good deal on a used one Now he has a problem with his bike ( xb9r ), The check engine light stays on , He goes to a dealer in Holland , and they where not able to read the error code The given reason ; it’s a german bike , you’ll have to go to germany. I think the dutch dealer is BS ing him, As far as my knowledge goes for the manuals/diagnostic tools are all in English and work in English, And I think all European export bike’s are the same ?? So why can’t the read out the bike ?? he is willing to pay for it ! ( he excepts the fact he has no warranty , due to the gray import off the bike and the status and the bike was bought with some crash damage ) I just like to know if the dealer is giving him bs Gr,B

Bud, there is a way to use a jumper wire to get the "check engine" light to blink the error code. Give me a minute, I'll look it up and post it. |

If any rider with a small piece of copper wire can read an error code on an XB, I would think that the dealer is full of shit. |

Yup thats BS, bikes dont know language, they know suck squash bang blow and binary data ( ECM output ) its up to the scanner/computer to interpret it. AFAIA all euro ECMs have the same part no. Cya Stot |

Bud, Where's your mate located? I know where he can get most excellent Buell service in Germany. Let me know off line and I'll send you his address and phone number and tell him your friend may be coming by. Greg |

Bud, Nope, I was thinking further south -- sorry. I do know that HD of Brussels had (this was 18 months ago) a factory trained Buell guy in house. Younger fellow and he'd spent a good deal of time in Daytona. I talked to him for a good bit and enjoyed the free espresso. I can't vouch for their Buell-bility. That's a HD store like no other I've ever visited. HD, Buell, Land Rover, Jaguar, and I believe Porsche. Greg |

Bud - Check my new thread "Red warning light on". It could be his problem. Steve |
