Well, I finally got around to wiring my Uly for my Garmin StreetPilot and putting on my Ram Mount. I have just been very busy lately. Everything went pretty smoothly, which for me is unusual. It is kinda sad when such a simple thing gives me such joy. You see, I am not like most of the Uly owners here, I don't have much mechanical ability. So, when I install an accessory or do some minor work on the bike and all goes well, it give me a great sense of accomplishment. Now, I just need to time to go for a ride and get lost, so I can use the GPS to find my way home. That is real bliss. | ||

Congratulations! I know how you feel. That's the problem with a GPS. You can't get lost. | ||

I'm not mechanically great either, but I do what I can. It always feels good, especially if I don't need any outside help. I find that I often know what to do, just not how to do it correctly due to lack of proper tools or experience. | ||

always feels good to do something on your own when your not sure how to do it to begin with. shame you didn't come along for the ride over to daytona on friday. 3 uly's, 2 1125r's and a kawi concourse. nice ride over but getting out of town was a pain. followed bugnut back the same evening. | ||

Hey Neil, I wish I could have made the ride over. I just couldn't manage it with work right now. Over and back makes for a long day though. I went over the previous Thursday night and was there first thing Friday morning. Came home Friday night. Not much going on over there then. Johnboy, you have a kind wife  | ||

Trevd, I went out to the garage and snapped a few photos. If you (or anyone else) have any more questions, just shoot me a PM. I just used the RAM mount I had for my HD FXDX. I have only used the GPS once, but where I mounted it seemed fine. I think it will be pretty easy to move around if I want to try another place, but I don't think the mount I have gives lots of other options without blocking part of the instruments. Here are some photos of how mine is mounted. When I am not using it, I just loosen the arm and remove everything but the ball mount installed on the handlebar. I then take the power cord and put it under the velcro strap of my handlebar bag and you don't even know it is there.   From the front of the bike  I used this wiring kit which I bought of ebay  you can see in third photo above (I hope) how I routed the wires down the front of the bike. I attempted to use the same route Buell does for their wiring. I then removed the airbox cover and ran the wires around the rim of the airbox and then into the interior of the bike  I then just attached the wires to the battery. Oh, I did add terminal ends from Radio Shack on the wires to ensure a good connection   I hope this was helpful. I am sure many others have done something more elegant, but this is working for me so far. Dan | ||
