I need a battery for my 07 xb9r. I got a new battery, took the old one out and noticed that the connections and terminals were different. The old battery has the "posts" flush with the front side of the battery, which I realized needed to be that way due to the way the battery sits in the bike. The new battery has traditional "posts" that sit on top of the battery. I know that the terminals and cables need to sit flush with each other. So...do I have to get a new battery from a Buell/Harley dealer, or if not, where can I get the proper one, that's also sealed as well? I have looked around with no luck. |

Is the new battery a HD battery? Many aftermarket batteries claim to fit but have slight differences that make them not exactly plug and play. |

No. The new battery is an Interstate battery- #ptx14-bs - that I got from a local Kragen. Its the correct dimensions, I put it in the bike to make sure, but the posts are not "plug and play." I'm assuming I should just get a HD Battery now? |

It looks like it should work, you could try some longer screws to help it reach the terminals, and probably a nut to help it maintain contact. |

The posts need to have a hole for the connection screw to screw into from the same angle as your original battery, i.e., from above, once the battery is mounted on its side in the bike. The photo above shows holes on top of leads and on the sides, so it should work. Doesn't your battery have the leads made that way? |

Froggy - Thank you. I will try that. Fahren - Yes, the battery does have the leads made that way. I just wanted to make sure that it would be okay to install a battery like that, as opposed to the original. Thank you. |

Sorry to hijack, but does anyone make a dry cell for our XBs? I've had no luck with Ultima, or Odyssey. |

I use a Odyssey battery nr: pc545 since last week! Had to customize the battery tray a little and made two terminal extenders. |
