ERB went above and beyond in resolving my issue. I didn't expect it, however he personally send an email today. PS it didn't involve the Race ECM This guy deserves all the respect in the world. Period end of story. |

I e-mailed EBR over a week ago and asked if they would offer a racing slip-on. This would hopefully give us who are on a budget a deal whiling increasing their sales. I still have had NO REPLY. |

Afhans you sound like a whiner. If I was EBR and I had to chose between answering an email requesting a product we have not developed versus and an email for service on a product we just sold I don't think I would have to think real hard about which email I got to first. I've gotten responses to all my queries. Even the ones that they could easily have ignored. My guess is they are buried under emails and orders to fill. God love em...they are our best hope for tricking out these bikes. Go EBR! |

The main reason I switched from the metric bikes to my 1125R was watching Erik Buell talk about and work on these bikes...you could see his genuine love for his bikes in his eyes and you can't fake that! Let alone the genius in some of his designs and thinking outside the box. I give Erik props for his tenacity and continuing his fight to keep his dream alive so he can pass a little of his happiness to us!!! Mountainstorm, +1 for all the whiners. Can we start a "WHINER POST", but the only thing you can complain about is your wife...some may have legitimate whines about their significant others!!! |

"This guy deserves all the respect in the world. Period end of story." Give me a break, fresno; just because someone's nice to you doesn't mean they deserve your respect; and he DID manage to mismanage Buell into obscurity. Personally I'll withhold my respect for Mr. Buell until my A$20,000 to $30,000 expenditure on my R even STARTS to recover from freefalling prices -- instigated by Harley's fire sale of Buells; and you should, too. |

Give me a break, fresno; just because someone's nice to you doesn't mean they deserve your respect; and he DID manage to mismanage Buell into obscurity. I had the respect for the man waaaay before this last episode with EBR. Getting a humble, personal email from the man himself just cemented it. The only reason you have so much money tied up in your bike is you needlessly mutilated it. That's no one's fault except YOURS. If anyone needed confirmation of your douchbag status....here it is. |

Redscuell Posted on Thursday, February 25, 2010 - 07:49 pm: "and he DID manage to mismanage Buell into obscurity." An undercapitalized business can go so far in a good economy. In a bad economy there when is no money coming in, equity is used. HDs hemmoraging $$ and doesn't see Buell as anything but a distraction. Neither HD or EB are responsible for a bad economy. My hope is that the HD corporate suite is swept away, dealer agreements are revisited so business models can scale to their local economies. Big Twin bikers agree that sportys are womens bikes. Drop sporty and reinstate the XB/rotax as the new sporty. dannybuell |

Spot on analysis. You no-read, good! I'd add "arrogant jackass" to the appraisal. Prediction: Perp is soon to be banned due to continued indignant, arrogant jackassedness. Will see though. |

>>>Prediction: Perp is soon to be banned due to continued indignant, arrogant jackassedness. Will see though. I wouldn't ban them . . . it's kinda nice, after all these years of being spoiled with polite, well mannered folks, to have some mental rif-raf in the crowd. They bring some entertainment . . . some will agree with their views and few listen to them. What's the harm? Kinda reminds me of the kid in college who always got wasted and puked his guts out . . . we could count on him for a laugh about anytime. They're just not that bright and they're kind fun to watch. |

Write Harley-Davidson and chew their ass out . . . . and be sure to ask them why they didn't sell you one of the 2010's they sold off for $A VERY CEAHP PRICE. . . .that'll teach them. If you spent $20,000 the void where you mind would go is your enemy . . not Mr. Buell or Harley-Davidson. (Message edited by court on February 25, 2010) |

Is this a**hole week or what? Why do these guys come on this site and say something that stupid. I paid full boat for my 1125R and would do so again. The really sad part of your post about MR BUELL is if he read that he would probably want to find out how he could fix what ever problem you have. I have only met the man one time at bike week 2000 he took the time to sign this poster for my son who was not yet born and went out of his way to find the rider and have him sign it as well. That earned MR BUELL a lot of respect from me. I am sure that someone that would post crap like that on a BUELL sight wouldn't understand something as simple as this small gesture.

I've watched Erik Buell blow off high level executive meetings to work on an owners bike in a parking lot and the year all the XBRR's raced at Daytona, after a pretty terrible day . . . I got a call from Erik's wife. . .they sneaked out of the HD official dinner and Erik, who was really dragging, wanted to be with the Buell owners and drove an hour to come hang out with all the folks . . . . when other folks would have hidden or played the "no comment" game he was right there having fun, crying in a cold beer with the rest of us and, as always, a true gentlemen. I've seen it repeated hundreds of times since 1987. |

If Redscuell would not talk out of his ass, and do a little bit of investigating on why H-D dropped the Buell line, he'd know it had nothing to do with a poor product or mismanagment of his company, but H-D Motor Co.'s effort to maximize profits in such a bleak economy by focusing on what they know and understand, cruisers, not sport/performance bikes!! Can we vote to have him kicked off the forum? |

Buell sales increased 55% over the past 5 years. Harley-Davidson sales increased 9% over the past 5 years. Buell sales were increasing last year, Harley's were, and still are, falling like a rock. |

Daytona 99 Erik help check out a strange vibration my M2 had it turned out to one of the first isolator failures. While riding two up I had hit a pot hole denting the muffler deforming the z bracket He found out laying in the grass at the track parting lot. Waiting on the next new Buell Motorcycle Company. I had stopped riding for many years untill seeeing an M2 parked outside a local sports bar. It intrigued me so I searched out owners of Buells every one said the bikes are fantastic But what sealed the deal for me was Can you get help when you have problems with them? They said yes Erik will call you back asap if your having a problem. Who's Erik the customer service guy? No Buell the guy that owns the company. This was in early 98 I bought the one of the early 99M2s My family has 6 currently at one time we have had 8 The bikes get your intrest the Erik and the Elves keep you coming back! |

Keep this in mind...HD hit the PANIC button for nearly no reason. Why you ask? To focus on the Harley-Davidson brand. but get this; would you like to see what the CFO had to say about it? "We have not quantified the benefits of increased focus on [the] Harley-Davidson brand as a result of discontinuing Buell nor included any potential savings in our restructuring estimates." - John Olin Buell revenue was $134.9 million in 2008 and $59.4 million in 2009 year-to-date. Capital expenditures related to Buell were $6.6 million in 2008 and $3.8 million September year-to-date. I dont see "mismanagement into obscurity" in those figures}} |

Red: Pretty much the way I read that whole situation as well. No idea what the thinking there was. As I understand it the Buell and the vRod lines were seeing strong numbers within the 18-35 segment (more so Buell than vRod) while the numbers for the heritage line within this age range were fairly stagnant. With operating numbers at Buell that were in the black, they could have simply left well enough alone without sustaining a loss. Sans anything of biblical magnitude occuring they most likely would have actually turned a profit... Instead they essentially dumped a generation of riders that could have sustained them in the future. The whole thing is quite odd. I wouldn't be surprised to see it used as a case study within academia on reactionary management fails. (Message edited by eece_ret on February 26, 2010) |

I have never met, talked to or exchanged email with Erik Buell, but I respect him. Why? Anyone that has seen or read an interview that he has done can see that the man has true passion and is dedicated to the product and those that own it. I respect anyone with true passion and dedication. |

redscuell is from down under, standing on his head, and his brain ,what little he had ,ran out his ears, kinda like the best part of him ran down his mommas leg at conception....what an a**wipe,if anything it was hd's fault with Buell, not the Buell factory or Erik Buell, hell Erik wanted to change to a water cooled engine back in 1998 but hd said hell no,you have to use the sporty motor which he did,and did a great job with the cards hd dealt, and when Buell finally got the motor that was needed it scared the hell out of hd and they pulled the plug with a lame excuse to shut Erik down. I will NEVER EVER buy a regular hd,before i do that ever again i will by some sort of euro bike instead, but i have 4 Buells now and i am 54 years old so i can make these last until i kick the bucket if need be.... |

>>>> I wouldn't be surprised to see it used as a case study within academia on reactionary management fails. Already begun. My graduate students at Columbia University got an earful 2 weeks ago . . . with lots of numbers and facts on the board. Harley-Davidson, who failed to ever properly market Buell, did Erik a huge favor. The rejected some amazing offers to makes some big bucks based solely on the fears of two people (one of whom is now departed to "pursue other interests")who were in fear of what they'd look like if Buell, under proper management, sold 30,000 bikes next year. Like most of the Buell chronology . . . it's really pretty amazing and amazing enough to be fodder for the rumor mill among the unknowing and light of mind. |
