Differences between an 03 and an 04 XB9 I can't think of any, are there? |

Belt system maybe. Color options at least for the firebolt I think there was only blue for 04 were as there was blue and white for 03 (though I could be wrong.) |

No engine differences? When did the throttle body get bigger? |

The reason I ask is... I had an original Buell Race Kit. The ECM died a horrible death, I literally broke it. Got a standard ECM, ran it for a while, but I could tell a difference in snappiness. Flashed it with the Race Map. It was corrupt, the bike simply wouldn't start. Next best thing was to flash it with the 04 Race Map. Golden. Been out riding and noticed there is absolutely no exhaust "pop" when I let off the gas like it's done since new. Much more well behaved, seems like the 04's difference is a better tune. I'll take it. |

The biggest difference between the 03 and 04 is the belt system. The 04 belt system is the upgraded one. Look at the tooth pattern on the belt and you will see the difference. Other than that I don't think much else changed until 06 when they got the new trans. |

The 03's were only available with that displacement deficient engine. |

They fixed that in 08 with a new motor that isn't redline deficient and has more hp and torque than the previous displacement deficient bike |

All I know is it's running better than ever and the only change is the ECM. Hey Froggy, me and my redline deficient XB will race you once around the loop. HWY60 to 19, up Blood Mountain, over Wolf Pen, back to T.W.O. We'll see how they stack up |

We will find out in 2 months Hopefully I will have tamed it by then. I do honestly find the XB easier to throw around on Wolf Pen, probably because there is less of the "oh ***" factor due to the lower HP output. Less risk of breaking traction unintentionally. |

Sweet, looking forward to it. I do honestly find the XB easier to throw around on Wolf Pen, probably because there is less of the "oh ***" factor due to the lower HP output. Yeah, you'll probably spank me good going up Blood Mountain. |
