Every part of my instrument cluster is functioning perfectly (apparently) but the displayed speed is 'sticking'. E.g., changing from a 100 kph zone to an 80 kph zone leaves the speedo indicating 100 kph, until I drop my speed dramatically; then it will stick again at the new, higher speed.

This began immediately after the bike's last trip to the dyno room. No codes or cel's, of course, because they're 'turned off'.

The VSS, perhaps?

The dealer can't take a look until the 17th; and says they haven't experienced this yet as mine's the only high-miles R in their stable. And I know they sure as heck won't have any replacement parts for the R, whatever it turns out to be.

The cluster reads a pulse signal from the speed pickup. HIGHLY doubt the pickup is the issue as it generates a square wave from the tooth it's 'looking' at. I would have to guess the cluster is wigging out.

They should be able to simulate it with a speedo checker. I know they used the HD version on my M2. Don't know if it works on the 1125's. Basicly a square wave generator of varible frequency which 'fools' the speedo and lets you check for the problems you have.

The only issue i have had with my cluster is it dropped to Zero while slowing from freeway speeds to exit ramp speeds. I looked down and and noticed the big egg where it should have read around 50. A haven't noticed it since. I assumed it was either a gremlin or left over elf poop on the connections.

I would guess that your problem lies withing the cluster itself and is a software glitch.

I'll get a snide comment in before the Red bashers show up though...Red apparently you haven't changed out your speedo fluid. Be sure you get the fluid calibrated for KPH as the MPH fluid tends to react unkindly to the Flux capacitor juice. And we all know what happens when the flux capacitor juice gets disturbed. It dumps the the blinker fluid out of that little hole by the clutch cover.

That is an idea...try changing it to read kph and see if it still sticks....

Is your flux capacitor Mike's talking about putting out 1.21 Jigawatts?

Try disconnecting and reconnecting the VSS.
It's a gray, triangular-shaped, 3-prong plug under the seat. Hard to miss.

Found a picture of mine.

"Try disconnecting and reconnecting the VSS.

However, a trip to the dealer shows the locals are pretty smart. They quickly traced it down to the remapping on my bike; the old tricks didn't work on the new map, which caused the speedo to become erratic.

All fixed now. Now all I want for Xmas is a Power Commander for it, which they say they won't sell overseas because of limited production reserved for the USA.

Someone here in the US should be able to get one for you and send it to you. I'll do it if nobody else wants to...

The speedo reading zero is NOT an issue with the gauges. It's the Speed Sensor. I had the same problem as Russ and specifically told the guys at my dealer to change the speed sensor. It worked.

mine will from time to time just read zero mph the gear indacater just shows a line and the needle turns red. If I shift or blip the gas it all comes back online no harm but still a little annoying.
